to Morning and Day Shift Students. For both Morning and Day Shift students Parents and Guardians will
be required to pick up the students from pickup points. The company will charge each student with
2000Tk per month for the service.
Iustrndy Analysis
The School transport services currently provided are not reliable or safe. Mostly 3 wheels rickshaw vans
are provided which has uncomfortable seating arrangements. The spaces inside those rickshaw vans are
very limited. Moreover since these vans cannot travel on the main roads it has to travel a longer
distance to reach the destined schools. There are some schools which give School Transport services to
its students but their number is few and most schools that can afford to provide such services.
Rickshaw Vans currently used as School Transport
SWOT Analysis
Strength: The Major strength of DST is its innovative business idea of providing school bus transport as aprivate organization. There are limited competitors in the industry and DST is charging an affordable
amount to middle income groups ensuring safe and reliable bus service.
Weakness: The operating cost is high due to rising fuel price, high price of repair and maintenance of
bus which leads to fewer profit margins.
Opportunities: This service could be provided to more schools and in many different routes of the city
thus serving the transportation need of school goers.
Threat: As it is new trend in the industry once its gains success, competitors will join the market and
grab the unexplored marketed area.
