Why does this represent abandonment?

• The woman in the picture looks lonely. Her eyes are off to the side as if they are distracted and thinking of a painful time. She is also looking out the window as if she’s looking for someone.

• The black and white of the picture makes it even more sad. This is usually used to represent a sad emotion.

• Her facial expression. Her mouth corners are pulled down and her eyes have a faraway look, this is usually used to represent abandonment.

How does this painting represent abandonment?

• The colors are very dark, which usually represents a sad feeling.

• You can only see two people and it doesn’t seem like they are interacting.

• You can see the city lights and stars but the painting was made somewhere where there are no lights and there are almost no people, this gives you the feeling of abandonment.

Why does this image represent abandonment?

• You see an abandoned house with no one in it and no one surrounding it. But someone used to live there long ago.

• The person who probably took this picture felt a shock of abandonment because someone left the house just like that without selling it or giving a second thought.

• The fact that this is black and white makes the picture a lot sadder and gives everyone the shock of abandonment.
