Full-time duration: 47 weeks

The AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation(Commercial Pilot Licence - Aeroplane) isyour first step towards making a career asa pilot. A Commercial Pilot Licence willopen many doors within the aviationindustry, not just becoming an airlinepilot. It will also open a number of careeropportunities such as flight instructing,supporting emergency services with airtransport, and charter.

The course is designed to take you allthe way from zero flight experience toqualified commercial pilot with aminimum of 150 hours experience. It isan intensive, full-time flying and theorycourse. At the completion of the course, you willhave advanced aircraft knowledge thatyou will be able to apply in practicalsituations.

PRACTICALTRAINING

80 dual flight hours70 solo flight hours5 simulated flight hours

Please note these are minimum hours to complete this Diploma and included in the tuition cost.

Phase 1 You will start your Diploma with Phase 1 - Ab Initio Training.Upon the completion of this phase, we will take you from noexperience all the way to a Recreational Pilot Licence level.

Phase 2 This phase will see you start on the path to a Private PilotLicence standard. You will learn skills related to flightplanning and navigating, as well as complete your first majortheory component: RPL Theory.

Phase 3&4 This study period, covering two phases, will see youcomplete your CASA required Commercial Theory subjects.It will also see you build a significant portion of your solohours.

Phase 5 Almost at the finish line...The final phase is dedicated to giving you the bestpreparation for your Commercial Pilot Licence flight test.You will complete your final flying hours as well as a pre-testwith one of our instructors, and any consolidation of trainingthat is needed.

GROUND THEORY & EXAMSAs part of your Commercial Pilot training, you are required to complete seven theorysubjects. These subjects cover a range of aspects and give you a detailed explanationof the theory behind your practical learning. These subjects are completed overPhases 3&4, integrated with the flight training.

Performance& Loading

Involves making calculations based on a range of variablesthat affect the way the aircraft operates.

Involves planning the movement of an aircraft from adeparture point to a destination, and all things in between.

Provides detailed awareness of weather occurrences andthe application of operational forecasts.

Covers the regulations and legislations that embody the civilaviation industry.

The study of forces and the resulting motion of the aircraftthrough the air.

Aircraft General Knowledge covers aircraft systems,operating procedures, and limitations.

The study of human interaction with systems andprocedures in a range of environmental conditions. You willgain a knowledge of human capabilities and limitations.

POTENTIAL CAREER OUTCOMESCommercial Airline PilotA career as an airline pilot will involve international or domestic travel. Airline pilots areresponsible for their flight crew, passengers, and cargo.

Emergency Services PilotA career in this field is challenging butrewarding. An emergency services pilotwill assist in the events of fires, naturaldisasters, and life or death situations.

What is VET Student Loans?VET Student Loans (VSL) is a program that assists eligible students in paying theirtuition for approved higher level education and training. VSL is a debt that is owed tothe Australian Government, which will be managed by the Australian Taxation Office(ATO) and indexed annually to maintain its real value.VSL is a loan and must be repaid.

How will it help me?If eligible, this program provides you with a loan that will cover the full cost of yourapproved course, allowing you to fly now and pay later.

How much can I borrow?If you are eligible, you can borrow funds up to your lifetime loan limit to help pay forall or part of your VET tuition fees. From January 1st 2020, the Student Loan limit is$150,000 for approved aviation courses.

What about repayments?You will start to repay your loan once you earn about the repayment threshold - forthe 2021/2022 income year this is $47,014. Visit http://studyassist.gov.au for furtherdetails.
