Sculpting Success in Direct Posterior Composite Restorations

SynopsisDespite the advancement of composites going leaps and bounds beyond imagination, one thing still remains unchanged: Composite Resin restoration placement is a technique sensitive procedure, and relies heavily on the clinicians ability to handle the material in a predictable manner. With patients having an increasing demand for aesthetic and conservative dental work, there is now a need to emphasise on how to create composite restorations that are both life-like and functional. However, this may require a large inventory of shades, rather long chair side time and a touch of artistic talent. In this lecture, I will share my experiences as a general practitioner with Posterior Composite Restorations and the failures I encountered, and what I learned over the years that helped me tackle common problems. We will also look into ways to keep things real, both aesthetically and practically, by discussing how to get predictable aesthetic outcomes in a reasonable time frame suitable for the general practitioner.

Nowadays, photography is an essential key to a successful case in dentistry. It is crucial for documentation and communication. However many dentists struggled to use the correct method to achieve standardized dental photography. And also because of the high cost for buying DSLR camera, lens and flash; and it takes time to learn the skills. With technology development in dental photography industry, now many alternatives are available to ease dentists using dental photography, for example: mobile dental photography.

In this seminar, He will discuss how to take correct photos for both documentation and communicating with simplified and more economical method.

The objectives of the workshop are:

1) For the participants to be able to differentiate between a serious situation with a non-serious situation and how to act accordingly.

2) For the participants to be able to maintain breathing & circulation of a critical victim by doing CPR & using an AED based on 2015 AHA Guidelines, while waiting for professional help.

3) For the participants to be able to do First Aid treatment to control minor & major injuries thus preventing the victim’s condition from deteriorating. For e.g.; to be able to control bleeding or mobilize a fracture etc.

Methodology:~ Interactive method with lectures and audio-visual aids~ After lectures, session will continue with hands on practical sessions using manikins and other items.~ Audio visual aids such as white board with marker pen, television & overhead projector will be used.~ Each participant will then undergo theory & practical assessment.~ A Certificate of Competency will be given to those who completed the course & pass the assessments.~ A Certificate of Attendance will be given for those who fail.~ The certificates are valid who 2 years only.

Effective and efficient infection control in the dental office is essential for the safety of patients and to ensure that productivity does not suffer. Infection control programs all include the cleaning and sterilization of reusable dental instruments and devices. Care must be taken by the dental healthcare professional to ensure that all instruments are cleaned prior to sterilization, and that this is carried out in a safe manner to avoid injury and puncture wounds. Use of closed-system cassettes reduces the risk to dental healthcare professionals when executing infection control programs. When using ultrasonic cleaners, washers and sterilizers, it is important to always follow the manufacturer's instructions. It is also important to consult with the manufacturer of dental instruments and devices as needed to ensure complete sterilization and to avoid damage to these items. Assurance of sterility of instruments and devices can be obtained through the use of one of several tests, and these tests must be performed regularly to ensure that the sterilizer is sterilizing all instruments and devices and that these are safe for use on patients.
