A Woman of Beauty1 Peter 3:1-4
The world is spending Billions of dollars a year in an attempt to discover “beauty”. Tons of make-up are manufactured each year. Gyms are available
to develop that “perfect” body. If the gyms cannot help there is liposuction and plastic
surgery. In addition there are the designer clothes and labels. For the real woman of fashion the wardrobe would not be complete without the
right house and car. All in attempt to manipulate what others think of us.
Introduction
1 Peter 3:1-41Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own
husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct
of their wives, 2when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. 3Do not let your
adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— 4rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is very precious in the sight of God.
3Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— 4rather let it be the hidden
person of the heart…
True Beauty Lies in the Inner Person – vs. 3-4a
The world has sold us a bill of good saying that beauty is mainly in the external. Those who do not live up to the artificial world
standard of beauty (Barbie Image) are left with blaming God for making them short or thick boned or …….. In reality all that God creates is good and when it is yielded to Him becomes beautiful. God has designed you. He gave you the genetics that you needed
to do the work that He called you to.
We need to develop the inner or hidden person. The values, goals, and philosophy which drive our lives. Our response to unpleasant
circumstances.1 Samuel 16:7 - Man looks on the external, but God looks at the
heart
Do not live to please man, live to please God!

True Beauty is Incorruptible
We need to beautify the real person – that which lives inside this body of flesh. Not this body
which will grow old, and if the Lord tarries, will die and return to dust. We need to develop that
inner person who will one day be clothed in immortality.

True Beauty is Incorruptible
It was for this inner person who will one day walk the streets of gold which Christ died for!
Lets spend our time developing our inward, eternal character.

Gentleness or meekness is the opposite to self-assertiveness and self-interest. It stems from
trust in God’s goodness and control over a situation. The gentle person is not occupied with self. Meekness is a work of the Holy Spirit, not of
the human will.

Quiet is Mary sitting at Jesus feet in the midst of commotion.
It is the peace that trusts God, knowing He always does and allows that which He means to refine us,
and work His ultimate Good in our lives. Quiet is the potter’s vessel trusting the skill and
ability of the master potter.

Christ to the world, and this inner character is one of the greatest witnesses one can declare of the love of
God.
