After nineyearswiththePalmSpringsUnifiedSchool District, I have reached myfinalweekbeforemyretirement.Itisalwaysemotionaltoshakethehandsofourgraduates as theirnamesarecalled at the ceremonies. This year,ofcourse,itwasevenmorepoignant
knowingthatthiswillbethelasttimethatIhavethehonorandpleasureofdoingthis. I arrived in Palm SpringsUnified nine years ago to serveas Assistant Superintendent ofEducational Services. I was thenblessed with the opportunity tobecome the Superintendent of oneof the finest school districts in thestate of California. It has been anincredible final act to an over 40-year career in education. I couldn’tbe more proud of the students,staff,parentsandentirecommunityfor the academic and operationalstrides that have been made andthepartnershipsformedduringthistime.Iamgrateful totheBoardofEducation for their confidence inmetoleadthisDistrictduringsomevery challenging economic times,and I am grateful to our PSUSDfamily of administrators, educatorsand support staff who stepped uptomeetthosechallengesheadonto
moveusaheaddespitethehurdles. I leave PSUSD with mixedemotions.Ilookforwardtospendingmoretimewithmyfamilyanddoingsome of the traveling I couldn’tdo until now.
