Steganography

Steganography is the art and science of writing hidden messages in such a way that no one apart from the intended recipient knows of the existence of the message

Cryptography

Cryptography or cryptology is a field of mathematics and computer science concerned with information security and related issues, particularly encryption and authentication

Steganography and Cryptography are not the same

In Cryptography the message is not hidden but it is just in a form that makes it difficult to read and understand but whereas in Steganography the content is obscured. The content may be in plain text or in cryptic text

By removing all but the last 2 bits of each color component, an almost completely black image results. Making the resulting image 85 times brighter results in the second image.

Hiding a image behind another image file

The matrix style wallpaper is not just another cool looking design. It has a message hidden in it. The first five lines of numbers at the top are the ASCII values of a message.
