elcome to Cleveland State University, the home of engaged learning!

Established in 1964 as a small state university, Cleveland State University has grown into a vibrant urban campus in the heart of downtown. With over 175 academic programs and several thousand internships offered every year, there are many ways for students to get involved in their major, both on campus and in their field of study.

Students at Cleveland State University have the opportunity to work and learn alongside industry professionals in every program, whether they are Grammy Award winning musicians, Cleveland Clinic health professionals, or Fulbright Scholars. Our internship and co-op programs get students out of the classroom and into the field, giving them the chance to learn by experience.

Our campus is within walking distance of Playhouse Square, Progressive Field, Quicken Loans Arena, East Fourth Street, and many more exciting destinations.

CSU students enjoy many benefits, including small class sizes (with an average class size of 23 students), an RTA pass for public transit, a student ticket program for local entertainment, and free entry to university sporting events. Being in the heart of downtown Cleveland has its perks!

It features the Tony Award-winning Cleveland Play House, America’s only professional theatre company coupled with an undergraduate university learning environment. The Arts Campus includes over 120,000 square-feet of studios, rehearsal space, classrooms and production shops, with faculty from the top arts institutions in town. It also includes the Galleries at CSU, as well as the new School of Film & Media Arts — Ohio’s only standalone film school.

CAMPUS SAFETYCleveland State University is taking every necessary measure to keep our students, faculty and staff safe! Our campus is protected by the CSU Police Department, who patrol over 90 acres of campus on foot, bicycle, horseback and patrol car. They also offer a campus escort service to increase safety and security when walking on campus. In addition to emergency blue-light phone stations around campus, students can also download the free Viking Shield mobile app to notify authorities in case of an emergency.

COMMUTING TO CAMPUSFor many students, CSU is only a quick, convenient RTA ride away. Each student is provided an RTA pass that they can use to commute, or visit any of the local, nearby attractions such as Little Italy, Edgewater Park, Westside Market, and more! We also have a number of parking options and a parking services app with up-to-date information about the number of parking spaces available in each lot.

CAREER SERVICES CENTERThe Career Services Center at Cleveland State University helps students find jobs both on campus and at nearby businesses. Students can set up an appointment with a career counselor for services such as resume writing assistance and mock interviews. The Career Center hosts a job fair every semester in the Woodling Gym, bringing in 100+ local employers to recruit CSU students and recent graduates.
