Procedure for Public Mass

We kindly ask that you register every week for the Mass you would like to attend.

St. Joseph Church is offering Public Masses. We have the Saturday, 4:00 PM Vigil Mass and the Sunday, 7:30 AM, 12:00 Noon, and 5:00 PM Masses. Please call the Rectory, 203-748-8177, Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 4 PM, in order to register each week to attend one of these Masses. Thank you.

My dear friends in Christ, For many years our Diocese has hosted speakers from the developing world to address us regarding the needs of their local Churches during our Mis-sion Co-Op Weekend. This year our Co-Op weekend is scheduled for July 18-19, 2020.

Due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will need to make some changes to our annual practice as many missionaries are unable to travel to the United States to make their annual appeals. As a result, this year I have asked all the parishes to take up a second collection during the weekend of July 18-19, whose proceeds will be equally distributed to the Catholic Pandemic Relief Agencies in those parts of our global community that have been impacted the most by this scourge. More specifically, our Pontifical Mission Of-fice, under the direction of Reverend Michael Boccac-cio and assisted by Elaine Bissenden, has contacted many overseas Church agencies at the front lines of the pandemic. Your generous donations will be go-ing to serve the poor and sick in Argentina, Ecuador, Haiti, India, Libya, Philippines, Vietnam and Uganda among other countries. As you know from recent news reports, the COVID-19 infection rate is dramatically increasing throughout the developing world. For this reason, I ask that you consider as generous a donation as pos-sible to assist Catholic agencies throughout the world who serve our brothers and sisters, most especially children, who are battling sickness, fear, and eco-nomic dislocation. With gratitude for your consideration of this request and every best wish, I am Sincerely yours in Christ,

Frank J. Caggiano Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano Bishop of Bridgeport

Arise Renew

PRAYERTIME is a faith-sharing re-source book based on the Sunday Gospel reading that offers gentle but insightful reflections that help the gospel come alive. Written in an easy-to-read style that leads to profound questions about faith, each session sheds light on every-day life and should bear fruit in real-

istic action. The PRAYERTIME book follows the Church’s liturgical year. The current Cycle A book contains the weekly Gospel reflections until the First Sunday of Advent. PRAYERTIME allows our faith-sharing groups to con-tinue the faith-sharing spiritual fellowship and action that the ARISE Together in Christ process be-gan. Weekly PRAYERTIME sessions consist of Opening Prayer; Gospel Reading for the upcoming Sunday; Gospel Reflection; Group Sharing; Invitation to Act; and Closing Prayer. Individuals or families can utilize this book for their spiritual growth as well.

The cost of the book is $10. You may purchase a book at St. Joseph Church after Masses the week-end of July 18/19. If you are unable to attend a Mass, please know you can drive up anytime during the Saturday 4:00PM, Sunday Noon or 5:00PM Masses to purchase curbside.

Please check the weekly bulletin for other upcoming sale dates as well as more faith-sharing group informa-tion in the coming weeks.

Saint Joseph Music Notes

Today's Communion antiphon should call to our minds that our worship is primarily a sacrifice, an offering, of both ourselves and of Christ to God. Although, as per

the psalm from which our Communion antiphon derives, we once would sacrifice burnt offerings and oblations, our sacrifice today is God Himself on the cross--"Christ the victim, Christ the priest" as is sung in today's Communion hymn. Praise we Christ, Whose blood was shed; at the altar of this high wedding feast of the Lamb of God let us truly praise our victorious King. In Christ,
