What is the Texas Parent Survey?
State Performance PlanIndicator 8
• All states must report the “percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities.”
• The state of Texas surveys a sampling of parents of students receiving special education services to answer Indicator 8.
Texas Parent Survey
• School districts and charter schools in Texas are selected to participate in the survey process.
• Texas conducts a random sampling of students to receive surveys based on the federal requirements.
• Districts with over 50,000 students receive surveys each year. (2006-2012)

Annual Performance Report• The following questions are used to determine the
district and state results for the APR– I am considered an equal partner– School communicates regularly regarding IEP– Teachers understand my child’s needs– My concerns and recommendations are considered
• The state measurable target for 2010-2011 is 76.0%. The state target was met with a score of 76.0%.
–Region 20’s score was 76%.
