Day 5 – Truro to St StephenUntil now I have kept up with Mark Moxon’s Lands End to John O’Groats progress mainly because he was carrying a massive rucksack, and he stopped for a full day in Helston (http://www.landsendjohnogroats.info/search/site_map.html ) . But from now on our ways part - he heads north to cross Bodmin Moor- and with his daily 15-20 mile walks he gets to Launceston a full day ahead of me. One thing we have is common is that we both have painful blisters by this stage. General directions : Climb over St Clements Hill out of Truro and join the A390 again near Tresillian. Turn north off the A390 and climb up to Probus (300 ft) then follow the Ladock road for a while before bearing north-east on minor road to Grampound Road village. Keep heading north east on minor road, climbing to 362 ft, and finish on the A3058 just west of St. Stephen village.

Another fine warm sunny day with a westerly wind. I decided not to walk through Truro city from yesterday’s finishing point. Instead I started from the Tesco car park in Truro centre, leaving the A390 to climb over St Clements Hill on a minor road – climbing to 270 ft, to get me warmed up. This minor road brought me back down to the A390 and the Tresillian River at Kiggon. Walked through Tresillian village and then took a left up Truck Hill on the B3275 to Probus (304 ft altitude). Walking time so far : 2 hours 25 minutes

DAY 5 – Truro to St. Stephen Coming down from St Clements Hill to the A390 and Tresillian. A very typical Cornish road - high banks on both sides

Day 5 – Truro to St Stephen Northwards on Ladock road, climbing to 354ft, before taking a right after 20 minutes past Helland Barton. Just before Grampound Road village, after walking for 3 hours and 10 minutes, I took a footpath left over the railway line and across the village cricket ground in the village. Took road north out of Grampound Road, reaching high point of 362 ft and turned right at Snellsgate with the River Fal valley on my right.

Day 5 – Truro to St Stephen Through Carnwinnick and on to Trelion on a minor road . Skyline dominated by large wind turbines around here. Then carried on north, down the slope of the west side of the River Fal valley. I stopped just short of the A3058 road near Terras Mill, to the west of St Stephen. Another great walking day on quiet roads, in perfect mild sunny weather, but big blister on right heel now a problem.
