Our students really shined at The Technology Fair that was held at Whitlow Elementary School on Saturday, January 26. I am proud to announce that we had the largest number of students presenting projects of all the elementary schools for the fourth year in a row! Fifth grader Cole Donovan represented us well! He competed against the Spelling Bee winners from all the other elementary schools and middle schools in Forsyth County and placed 6 th overall! Congratulations Cole!

Principal’s Message Continued: Kindergarten Registration is quickly approaching! Parents may register future kindergarten Stars at Settles Bridge Wednesday, March 27 (1:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.) and Thursday, March 28 (7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.). Certain documents are required for registration. Visit www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/registration for a complete list of registration requirements. Please help us spread the word to your friends and neighbors who have children that will be kindergarten age for the 2013-2014 school year. The January 25 Inclement Weather school closing will be made up by students and staff on Friday, March 29, 2013, which is listed as Inclement Weather Day #1 on the approved 2012-2013 student calendar. Students will not have school February 15 (Professional Development Day) and February 18 (Presidents’ Day). Have a Happy Valentine’s Day! Take time to give your loved ones an extra hug. President’s Message It's February and it’s time for Staff Appreciation Week 2/11-2/14! You can show your love and appreciation for your child, favorite teacher, and favorite staff member by sending them a red carnation on Valentine's Day. The PTA is selling red carnations for Valentine's Day again this year. You can purchase them at $2 each and send a note to that someone special. All flowers will be delivered on February 14th. You will find a flyer in this E-news that you can print out or check our PTA website for more information. Our next general PTA meeting will be on March 1st. This meeting will start at 5:30 prior to Bingo Night at 6:00. The spring book fair will also begin that evening, so be sure to stop in and browse. The PTA budget will be amended. The new budget will reflect changes due to actual income and expenses year to date. If you would like a copy of the new budget prior to the meeting, please email [email protected]. We have selected a nominating committee that will be charged with nominating officers for next year’s PTA board. The nominating committee will be approved at the March meeting as well. Please let the committee know if you are interested in serving on the board next year by emailing [email protected]. The next couple of months will be busy with several upcoming events – be sure to mark your calendars with the dates below.

Bingo Night – A Family Night of Fun is March 1st at 6:00. Bingo is free. Fabulous Raffle Prizes - $1.00/ticket.
Spring Fling – We need a Volunteer to be in charge of Ticket Sales and a Volunteer to coordinate Volunteers. Please contact Diane Mortland [email protected]. All Pro Dads - Please join us for the All Pro Dads meeting on Friday, March 8th at 6:50AM in the Art Room. The meeting will include a light breakfast. Please RSVP at www.allprodad.com/dd/2065. Bring the kids as we'll discuss family topics, create fun memories, and provide tips on strengthening our relationships with our kids. The kids love seeing their dads at school! The Settles Bridge Talent Show will be Saturday, March 9th at 2:00 pm for grades K-2 and 5:00 pm for grades 3-4. 5th grade will have separate Talent Show in May.
LABELS FOR EDUCATION program changes-Please send in all Labels for Education immediately. The rebate rules have changed and they will no longer be accepting the fronts of the soup labels for credit. They have provided a special code so we can still receive credit for a limited time. Therefore, please check your files and send in any soup label fronts immediately. Soup labels that are marked Labels for Education above the UPC label will continue to be accepted.
