Successful and proven for decades – Webasto Thermo Rail is the

perfect water heater solution for rail vehicles. It allows the fast

and safe pre-heating of the locomotive‘s engine and heating of

the passenger compartments. The heater can be installed as OEM

or retrofitted during refurbishment work. The Thermo Rail meets

numerous railway standards including DIN EN 5510 (fire protec-

tion) and DIN EN 61373 (vibration / shock). The recognized certifica-

tion by the German Federal Railways Authority (EBA) also allows a

simplified vehicle registration.

Webasto heaters ensure a cozily warm working climate even with

extreme outdoor temperatures and bad weather. Water heater

systems integrated in the vehicle‘s own cooling circuit pre-heat

or keep warm not only the passenger compartment but also the

engine and operating materials when parked. The system heats

the vehicle‘s cooling fluid like a central heating system, which first

flows through the cab heater‘s heat exchanger, then the engine

and, on request, heat exchangers for the fluid tank. The heat

for the cab can be regulated according to personal preferences.

What‘s more, water heater systems are economically sensible since

they prevent cold starts of the engine.

More Than Just Hot Air When only the passenger compartments of work machines,

driver‘s cabs and cabins have to be comfortably heated, our air

vice, you should consider the size of the engine, the preheating time

needed, and further, uses of the vehicle. Some engines need an ad-

ditional heat input to raise the temperature of the cooling fluid, in

order to protect the front windshield from misting or icing up.

ry requirement for de-icing and dehumidification to ensure warmth

at all times in the team tent, shelter or storage area.

developed electronic control system to make operation of the heat-
