Deploy a selection of sensors on a seabed area (some km2) connected to standard nodes.
Nodes are communicating between them by acoustic links or cable links.
Sensors can be deployed by ROV or submersible.
Nodes can be linked to a permanent data server on shore to achieve real-time connexion and data archiving.
The sensors locations are determined from a detailed pre site survey

Adaptive acoustic network
The first experiments with ASSEM nodes rely upon the use of and Local Adaptive Acoustic Network: data are transmitted from one point of the network to another one by using the best road.

This fjord was recently the location of an important landslide. The experimentwill be oriented toward slope stability studies with the use of pore pressure
sensors deployed in boreholes.

ASSEM is a new concept of real time sea floor observatory
ASSEM is a warning system
ASSEM can be linked to another observatory system like GEOSTAR
ASSEM concept could be applied in biological or environmental studies
