Project Facts: • Partners: 19 partner institution (9 EU countries) • Duration: 01. Oct. 2011 - 30 Sept. 2014 • Budget: Total 4.6M€ • PI: UPMC (Fr)
Project Goal: To design a new European Research Infrastructure based on underwater glider technology to safely and sustainably operate individual as well as fleets of such autonomous vehicles, in order to create a permanent observations coordinated strategy addressed to fill the gaps left by present marine observation systems on global and regional scale, with benefits for both marine research and operational oceanography.
The primary project objectives are based on the principles of Lean Manufacturing processes, whereby procedures are streamlined and efficient, with improved quality and performance. The intention is to improve the flow from one stage of a process to the next and to ensure timely delivery of high quality project results.
Project Facts: • Leader: University College
Cork, National University of Ireland, Cork
• Partners: 31 partners / 10 EU countries

Call: The Ocean of Tomorrow 2013 (FP7-OCEAN-2013) Topic: OCEAN.2013-4: Innovative transport and deployment systems for the offshore wind energy sector
LEANWIND Logistic Efficiencies And Naval architecture for Wind Installations with Novel Developments
The offshore wind industry is at a stage where Lean principles can provide additional cost and time savings and facilitate wind energy becoming cost competitive with more traditional energy sources. It is vital that efficiencies are improved while simultaneously improving quality control, H&S and environmental integration.
OCEANERA-NET Supporting the coordination of national research activities of Member
States and Associated States in the field of Ocean Energy (ERA-NET) FP7 ERA-Net Project – 16 partners – 2.62M€ – Execution phase (2013- 2017) Coordinator: Scottish Enterprise (UK) Contact: Johanna Yates ([email protected])
ERA-Net that aims to facilitate coordination of research in the ocean energy sector across Europe. Promote information exchange in the management of current and planned
ocean energy programmes. Engage in a dialogue process on regional and national priorities. Develop a common toolkit to enable the management and evaluation of joint
transnational activities and calls to be launched. Act as a leverage for further research and innovation funding at European,
national or regional scale in the context of Horizon.

3 year FP7 CSA Project – 13 partners – 1M€ budget – Execution phase (02/05/13- 30/04/16) Coordinator: Fundo regional para a Ciencia (Azores, Portugal) Contact: [email protected]) Starts from the existing biodiversity research partnership developed in the ERA-Net NET-
BIOME (2007- 2012) Aims to extend and strengthen research partnerships and cooperation for smart and
sustainable management of tropical and subtropical biodiversity in ORs and OCTs Participatory process involving stakeholders from the four strands of the quadruple helix (research,
government, business and society) Create Biodiversity Management Toolbox with Information System for information, case studies and good
practices, and an Information Service for stakeholders International conference on biodiversity valuation and awareness of natural resources (organised by PLOCAN in
