Once again, workshop coordinator Barb Kunath and the Gulf to Bay Chorus, with funding assistance from the Heralds of Harmony through grants from the Pagliara Foundation, Publix and Sam’s Club, hosted a very successful one day a capella event at the Feather Sound Community Church. Clinicians, Camille Sanabria (SAI) and Adam Scott (BHS Staff) did a wonderful job teaching Barbershop to students and teachers from five Pinellas high schools. HD, a quartet from South Florida comprised of Alex Rubin, Kevin Mendez, Will Rodriguez and Christian Diaz, along with ladies from the Gulf to Bay Chorus, did an amazing job demonstrating the barbershop style. With the exception of a few early morning hick-ups (the bass missing his flight (although I did have a lot of fun filling in on bass until he arrived), the clinician going to the wrong church, the quartet taking the long way to the church, etc., etc.) the day was very well received by all who attended. The students all said they can’t wait for next year’s workshop!
Thanks to all who were involved!Arne Helbig

Andy is the newest member of the Heralds. He has always enjoyed the sound of Barbershop but this is the first time he has participated in it. Andy found the chorus through an online advertisement which led him to the Heralds official website. Once he found out where the chorus was meeting, he came in for a visit and was hooked. In his time away from the chorus, Andy loves spending time with my family and friends. He also enjoys serving athis church and within the community, composing music, traveling, and eating good food. I asked Andy, “What advice would you give a new Herald?” That may be a strange question to ask a new Herald but he has excellent advice! “Listen to what Tony says. He is an excellent director and teacher and I have already learned much from him.” He also added, “Seeing that I am a new Herald I would much rather get advice than to give it.” So here’s your chance guys! Lay it on him!!
Andy is no local, he was born way over in Torrence, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles! Each evening, Andy retires to his home with his beautiful wife Lynn and his 17 month old son Coda. Cool name huh?! When he and his wife named Coda they were looking for a fairly unique name that related to music, since they share a mutual interest in music. Even though “Coda” is a musical term, they chose it more for the sound of the word than the actual meaning. Andy is a financial coach with a financial services company called Primerica. He helps families to become debt free, properly protected with life insurance, and financially independent through short-term and long-term investments. He started working with this company because of a situation he found himself in about nine years ago when an agent of a financial institution took advantage of his ignorance for the agent’s own financial gain. Now, he’s on a crusade to educate families to help protect them from situations like that. “Singing with the Heralds is my first experience in the world of Barbershop.” Andy said, “I am looking forward to performing with the Heralds! “ Andy is a great addition to the chorus. Welcome Andy! h

Christmas Ticket sales Are soaring! As of November 12th, more than one month before the
Christmas show, tickets for the afternoon show have flown out the door on consignment and telephone sales.
SOON we will be asking any Herald who has consigned tickets and not sold them to bring the unsold tickets back so we can fulfill requests.
There are still tickets available for both shows, more tickets are available for the evening show (the best one of the day, if you ask me. But you didn’t.
Well, I told you anyway!)
If you or your guests have gotten used to the tickets being available at show time over the past couple of years, THis YeAr Will be DiFFerenT! The chorus is singing better than it has in many years, we have excellent talent coming in, Tony is directing, and the venue is smaller (but sounds soooo much better!) Don’t wait any longer. Get your tickets now! Call 813-994-8787 or get them from the Ticket Angels at the rehearsals. h

The Show must go on! Occasionally, on performance day, things don’t go as planned, but the Heralds of Harmony manage to pull off a show that appears flawless to the audience.
On Sunday, October 28th the staff at Tarpon Springs commented that The Heralds “were running like a well-oiled machine”. Little did they know all of the issues that we were dealing with that day. The Director and a few of the front row guys were ill and couldn’t make it to the show, the emcee went to the wrong location (but made it to the right one on time), and someone forgot to bring the mics.
All in all, though, the day turned out great and the audience was thrilled by the talent on stage. h

On Saturday, November 3rd, the Community Performing Arts Guild and the beautiful Mariner United Methodist Church in Spring Hill, FL., hosted the Heralds of Harmony. The chorus along with guest quartets 75 South and The Humdingers sang to approximately 600 people.
A very tasty barbecue dinner was served to the performers and their attending
wives. During dinner, the chorus serenaded their hosts with Let Me Call You Sweetheart, which was well received, although the gentlemen of the hosting party may have felt a bit uncomfortable J. hPhotos courtesy of Claudine Jenkins
