A Modern Approach to a Timeless Classic

Beautiful. Elegant. Innovative.... These are just some of the words used to

describe the new LX-10 Digita l Upright Grand Piano. Roland’s master engineers

have ref ined their v ision of the upright piano, and created a bold new instrument

that combines pure piano performance with modern style and convenience.

The Roland LX-10 — a new-generation piano with the soul of a classic.

DE SIGN & QUA LIT YIntegration of Traditional Piano Features

Stunning, Streamlined CabinetThe LX-10’s polished ebony and satin-black hybrid finish beautifully complement

each other. The look is strong and bold, yet the depth of the piano is just 45.3cm.

The fallboard’s interior has a mirror finish that reflects the keyboard and moving

fingers in the style of a grand piano, bringing a sense of visual enjoyment to your

playing. The fallboard can be used as a music rest when opened. It closes slowly

and gently, combining both safety and aesthetic grace. In addition to its beautiful

appearance, the lid also shapes the piano’s overall tonal character. It can be closed

and opened, which allows the lid to vary the tone from mellow to bright. Cables

can be neatly hidden in the rear of the piano, allowing the LX-10 to be easily

placed against a wall. It can even be set up in the center of a room since the rear of

the piano has an attractive appearance.

Full Concert-Grand Piano SoundsFrom its powerful low range to its brilliant high range, the sounds of the LX-10

were created by painstakingly sampling world-class grand pianos, key by key,

resulting in a stunning 88-key stereo multi-sampled piano engine. Roland’s

engineers meticulously captured the myriad sounds and resonances of each

instrument, including the duplex scale resonances that emphasize string

behavior and the brilliance of the mid and high range. The end result is

stunning, but that’s only the beginning. Various types of resonances, hammer

noise, and other detailed features can

be individually adjusted as desired with

the Piano Designer feature. With its 128

polyphonic voices, the LX-10 ensures perfect

performance, even during heavy damper

pedal usage or during fast passages.

Natural, Rich Sound with Built-In SpeakersThe LX-10 is equipped with a specially designed, high-quality speaker

system. By taking advantage of the piano’s vertical cabinet chamber, and

installing six speakers in optimal positions, the LX-10 is able to produce

sounds that emanate from the entire instrument, f illing the room with rich,

resonant sound.

Pedals that Respond to Technique and EmotionThe LX-10’s damper and soft pedals react to the slightest push. The pedals

respond naturally and authentically according to every nuance. You can

subtly alter the sound, for example, at the moment when the “dampers”

make contact with the “strings,” which occurs in acoustic grand pianos.

Brief ly releasing the pedal then depressing it again allows the strings to

keep vibrating, and lets the dampers maintain the resonance.

The Touch of a High-Quality Grand PianoThe LX-10 boasts Roland’s acclaimed PHA II (Progressive Hammer Action

II) "Ivory Feel” keyboard, which reproduces the authentic feel of ivory for

the natural keys and ebony for the sharps. Its moisture-absorbent materials

used to recreate the natural properties and feel of ivory and ebony provide

just the right comfort while playing. The white keys recreate the two-piece

key construction of grand-piano keys (base material and surface material).

The result is not only beautiful, but one that meets high-level performance

demands. The natural touch, produced merely by the weight of the hammers

against the keys with no springs, faithfully recreates a smooth, “sinking”

feeling during soft playing and a strong response during loud playing. The

LX-10 also features an escapement mechanism

for each key, which recreates

the “click feel” characteristic

of grand-piano keys.

LE SSON & PL AYMake Learning and Playing More Fun

Useful Lesson FunctionsThe LX-10 is equipped with a variety of friendly lesson functions, such as an internal

metronome for developing steady time, and a three-track recorder for listening back

to performances and checking them objectively. In addition, the Twin Piano function

splits the keyboard into two identical zones, letting two people sit side by side and

play in the same range. Expand your repertoire by using these skill-building tools!

Learn and Play Your Favorite Songs A library of famous classical and jazz pieces is built into the LX-10. In addition, the

LX-10 can play back a variety of songs*1 stored on media*2 such as audio CDs*3,

music data and audio data on USB memory sticks. When playing the installed

songs or music data, the LX-10 allows the key signature and tempo to be changed,

and the left and right hand parts to be soloed or muted separately. As a result, you

can practice with one hand while listening to the other hand’s part. Since the

keys and tempos of music from audio CDs and WAV files can be changed

independently, you can enjoy learning and playing along with your favorite songs.

Add as many new songs as you wish from audio CDs and/or music data.

*1 Compatible Formats: Standard MIDI Files and WAV files *2 USB memory, CD-ROM, and floppy disk; optional USB CD drive (CD-01A) required for CD-ROM playback; optional USB floppy disk drive (FD-01A) required for floppy disk use. *3 Optional USB CD drive (CD-01A) required for playback.

No Tuning Required! One of the Many Merits of the All-Digital LX-10

Since the LX-10 is a digital instrument with no strings inside, tuning is unnecessary. Day

or night and in any climate, you can enjoy playing with consistent, perfect sound. And

you can play without disturbing others, since the LX-10 provides volume control and

headphone output. Compared to an acoustic piano, the LX-10 is lightweight and

compact, making it easy to change the position of the piano whenever you want to. These

are just features that make Roland digital pianos a joy to play, maintain, and transport.
