` . A Message from The Principal’s Desk Dear Parents and Community Members, Another busy week as we draw closer to the end of term 2. This week has been a week of Eisteddfods. Our whole school performed in the Choral Speech and performed both poems beautifully (and actually knew all the words). Our students performed exceptionally well, and were awarded a well-deserved 3 rd place, however in our eyes they were first! Thank you to Mrs Hoade and teachers and students for all the hard work to prepare for our whole school Eisteddfod item. Tuesday and Wednesday was the individual speech section of the Gunnedah Eisteddfod and we had a number of students perform exceptionally well over the two days. I had the pleasure of watching students from 5/6 compete with great personal success yesterday afternoon. Other students also performed in individual sections in Music, Singing and Dance this year. Some have come home with awards, but most of all everyone performed exceptionally and they have done themselves and their school proud. WELL DONE!! Mrs Wise has includedall award recipients who shared their awards at school later in this newsletter. On Thursday students participated in a virtual excursion with Mem Fox. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to listen and interact with one of Australia’s most notable and famous children’s author. No doubt this will be something they remember for a lifetime, particularly when they are reading her books to their children and grandchildren. SPECIAL REQUEST FROM OFFICE Our office is undergoing significant changes in the way we complete all record keeping and financial transactions with the introduction of LMBR (Learning Management, business Reform). To assist with moving this process we need some help from parents. 1. Updated Medicare Records – Parents are asked to call into the office over the next few weeks with their Medicare cards. Additionally we will need to update student health care plans by the 23 rd of June and I will arrange meeting times shortly with parents. 2. Payments for student activities etc at Curlewis PS. i. POP payment no longer available (online payments cease end of term 2). ii. Direct deposits will no longer be available (our bank account is changing). iii. Mrs Wise will not be in the office every day as she will be away at training for the new system. Finally, tomorrow most of our 5/6 students are competing at the Zone Cross Country at Mullaley PS. Good luck to all competitors! Thank you to all parents for the support they are showing their children and our school. Pete Baum Teaching Principal - I give a Gonski 1.0! Do you?
