We discussed
Building a Life of Worship.
Looked John 4 : Jesus encounter with the Samaritan Woman.

John (Yohana) 4: 21-24
Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

When you are “crossing the road” it’s not for arguing about culture and method. Worship is not a Racial exercise of Emotion.
Worship is not a Place , it is not a man made Ritual and it is not an Emotional State whipped up by man’s method.

Worship is being made alive in the Spirit!
Worship is dealing with the lies and the deceptions of Sin and Satan.

There are a couple of commonly used Greek words to define Worship in the Bible.
There is “proskuneo” (NT: 4352 Strongs Conc.)
“to bow, do reverence to”
its a combination of two greek words
Pros- “towards”
Kuneo- “to kiss the hand” (John 4)

sebomai , “ To revere”
sebazomai. “To honour”
eusebeo. “To act piously”
therapeuo. “To do service, to cure, heal”

A consideration of the above verbs shows that it is not confined to praise; broadly it may be regarded as the direct acknowledgement to God, of His nature, attributes, ways and claims, whether by the outgoing of the heart in praise and thanksgiving or by deed done in such acknowledgment. “

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your reasonable service.
...spiritual act of worship. (NIV)
...This is truly the way to worship him. (NLT)

Paul Pleads, Urges
In view of God’s Mercy.
1) compassion, pity, mercy
a) bowels in which compassion resides, a heart of compassion
b) emotions, longings, manifestations of pity

No Mercy Without Sacrifice.
No Sacrifice No Mercy.
There would be no compassion, mercy and forgiveness had there not been a full substitution in the death of his son in our place. “ Without the shedding of Blood there is no forgiveness of sin.”
It’s on this premise of Jesus’ sacrifice and the mercy it bought that Paul appeals to us.

You have to do something because of what He has done.

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

There are two great failures in our process of Worship and Service,
If Worship is ( direct acknowledgement of His nature, attributes, ways and claims) then we have to get it right in terms of God.

Two great failures in the way we communicate God’s...
1. Holiness.
2. Love.
If we fail to get the balance right here we misrepresent the heart of God completely.
We fail in our Service before God

Some one comes knocking at my door.
Jehovah’s Witness, getting the balance wrong.

1. Holiness of God. Diminished
“the worst punishment for sin is pop! you’re gone, into oblivion, nothingness” An attractive option
2. Love of God. Over emphasised
The rationale is the love of God wouldn’t, couldn’t punish for eternity, that’s fearful, people would respond to God in Fear.” That’s not nice at all.

2 Corinthians 5: 9- 11
So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.

2 Corinthians 5: 14-15
For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
