    2 Introduction

This report details the monitoring of the emissions to surface waters and has been prepared as required by Schedule C of the Waste Licence WO206-01 for Quarter 1 of 2016. Samples from surface water were taken on the 12* May 2016 by a member of the Environmental Department and tested by an independent laboratory, Advanced Micro Services & Environmental Laboratories Ltd (ALS).

    3 Sampling Point Locations

The waste license, WO206-01, requires that monitoring be carried out at SW3 where the yard runoff is discharged to the local surface water drain after it passes through a silt trap and interceptor on site.

4 Surface Water Weekly Monitoring Results

Water samples were previously taken from the holding tank at emission monitoring point S3 weekly as required by Schedule C.2.3. of the waste licence for the site by an independent company. At the request of the EPA in the site report dated 28* March 2014 samples were ‘only be taken when there is a representative flow from the holding tank’. As such we cancelled the company taking the samples on a weekly basis and an environmental representative of Thorntons Recycling took samples only when there was a flow going through the tank as requested by the EPA. The lists of weekly samples taken to date are maintained on site and future weekly samples will be taken and recorded i n the AER for the facility. The EPA set trigger levels in the weekly sample in correspondence dated the 24* January 20 1 1 (reference W0206-Ol/NC06NH) before this there were no trigger levels for this emission point.
