Public Libraries 2.0...

“...libraries are increasingly viewed as outdated, with modern, Internet-based services, such as Amazon and Google, looking set to inherit the throne” (Chad & Miller, 2005, p.4)

“... compete for attention” in a 24/7 information society (Miller, 2006, p. 3).

Public library website unlikely to be the first port of call for many internet users (Miller, 2006, p. 4).

Failing to create a desirable destination?

Harnessing collective intelligence...

“...libraries have been gathering the collective intelligence of

civilisation for a long time, but in our collections each book is its own silo, users cannot navigate

between them following link trails” Tim O’Reilly

“A powerful global conversation has begun. Through the

internet people are discovering and inventing new ways to share relevant

knowledge with blinding speed”The Cluetrain Manifesto
