1.1.
Position of the technique
JET+ is a system to do jet grouting columns, using a special
patented monitor with optimized flow (so with more focused
jet).
What is JET+ ?
JET+ allows doing the same column with less energy than
conventional jetting system. The table bellow gives the dynamic
pressure (in bar) at distance varying from 0.5 to 2 m measured in
air :
1.2.
The single JET+ allows pushing away the limits of the jet
single. In some conditions, it can replace the double Jet.
Scope of application
The scope of soil for JET+ is the same than for standard Jet
(sand, gravels, marl, peat, clay, silt). The scope of use for JET+
is equivalent to the normal jet (underpinning, break in/ break out,
small retaining wall, jetted cut off...). It can be implemented
particularly for jetted slab, doing bigger diameter.

Strengths- more efficient (less energy for same diameter) even
with lower pressure (300 bars).- Less pressure losses in the
monitor.- Better productivity (output)- Less cement consumption and
less spoil production.
Weaknesses- Thicker spoil in clay (lower substitution ratio).-
Too efficient for small columns in soft or loose soils.- Expensive
monitor difficult to amortize on a small site- Monitor to be
cleaned after each column (need of 2 monitors at least).
Sing

ET +
Strengths- Almost as efficient for small diameter columns either
in soft or stiff soils (no real improvement of efficiency with the
air)- No use of pressured air (cleaner site, single jet rods, less
risk of building or structure heave, less risk of pressured air
pocket into the ground).- No spoil "drying effect" due to the air
(especially when jetting above the water table).- More fluid spoil
(higher substitution ratio).- Higher achievable strength.
Weaknesses- Less efficient for big diameter columns => lower
productivity.- No air to ease the spoil return in case of deep
columns.- Impossible to perform V-check in single rods (compared to
SB double jet rods).- Expensive monitor.- Monitor to be cleaned
after each column.

2.4.
2.4.1 drilling method for JET + :
Method statement single JET+
During drilling operation, the drilling fluid comes out through
the tool at bottom, and a little through the nozzle. The injection
fluid can be water, or bentonite or cement grout. During the
jetting operation, the flow increases and closes the pressure valve
(see picture) and all the flow comes out through the nozzle.
2.4.2 drilling tools : Drilling tools are the same than
conventional drilling (nozzle bit, tricone etc).
2.4.3 controls : Diameter control can be done with CYLJET or
with coring.
3.
All the shift costs, fixed costs and subsidiary costs are the
same than for standard jet grouting site. The only monitor is
different.
Cost elements
Jet + single monitor with the top and bottom connections # 5 600
Nozzle for Jet # 150
It is necessary to have 2 monitors on site (1 for work, 1 for
cleaning/maintenance).
4.
The examples below are done with a maximum of data to help the
understanding of the JET + process.

5.
Following the test on Birmingham and Manathan of double JET+,
with a lot of breakdown of the monitor, a new elbow has been
designed and manufactured, with improved sealing (tested at 450 b).
This new monitor can be used for single or double JET+. A single
JET+ monitor can be converted to a double JET+ monitor. Two new
monitors have been successfully tested in the site of Lee tunnel.
It seems that the problem is solved. It needs more sites to check
with time now.
Opportunities
A removable rubber plate can be fitted on nozzle (or other
system), to avoid plugging the nozzle.

good environment matters (less energy, less noise etc...), flatter
his pride. In front of family customer typology, focus on the
safety of the process, his quietness with residents (we will take
care of them, less noise, less pollution, less vibration, no risk
of uprising), the better quality, the environment.
