Ø High school-national honor society, honor roll, 3.75 Award Night
Ø Colleges look at GPAs to predict future success and acceptance
Ø Scholarships-higher GPAs can mean a better chance at earning scholarships (money that doesn’t need to be repaid)
Ø Driving insurance discount (money in your pocket!)
Ø Sports eligibility-scholar/athlete award
Why is GPA Important?
To remain active in any extracurricular sport or school activity you must maintain a
1.5 GPA and not fail more than 1 class.
At the end of each 9 week quarter, GPAs will be figured to determine eligibility for the
following quarter.

Once a school credit is earned, the grades remain on the high school transcript and
may impact college admission.
What Do You Mean It Counts for Credit?
.
In 8th grade your GPA is figured every quarter. That is how we figure honor roll and eligibility for sports and activities.
At the high school you will get a semester GPA and a cumulative GPA?
Yes and no…The grades you earn in high school are averaged into all previous years grades. You can raise
your GPA by getting better grades, but it raises SLOWLY.
Any classes you take for credit this year and during 9-12 grade count towards your cumulative GPA.
If I earn a bad grade, can I get better grades next year to make up for it?
A very special awards program at FHS is the 3.75 Banquet/Award Night
Findlay High School wants you to know that getting a B in Spanish I or Algebra I in 8th grade and a B your first
semester of high school will drop your cumulative GPA below a 3.75.
