The Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Improvement Project will provide significant upgrades to this busy station, expanding its multi-modal capacity and role as a quality community resource, to usher in a new era of Metro Rail. This revitalized regional facility will provide thousands of Metro patrons with superior access to local treasures and amenities, including the county’s most advanced health care services provider, the rebuilt Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Campus; the Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science; and the Kenneth Hahn Plaza Shopping Center. metro.net/wrpstation Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station Improvements A Gateway to the Willowbrook Community

Project Goals

> Enhance safety and security > Improve connections to the

surrounding community> Expand station capacity> Streamline rail and bus

transfers

Since the completion of the Metro Blue Line in 1990 and the Metro Green Line in 1995, the Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station has evolved from a neighborhood station into the fourth most heavily used station in the Metro system. The Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Improvement Project will provide significant upgrades to this busy station, expanding its multi-modal capacity and role as a quality community resource, to usher in a new era of Metro Rail.

Metro is working in tandem with several community revitalization efforts in the area, a number of which are spearheaded by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, to complement significant local streetscape and development investments, and build a revitalized gateway into and for the Willowbrook Community.

The project will extend the Blue Line platform south of the I-105 to increase visibility by bringing the station into the daylight. A new pedestrian crossing will provide a safe connection across Metro and Union Pacific tracks for community and patron use.

Let there be light.

Get there faster. Improved pedestrian connections will provide safe and more direct walking paths to destinations surrounding the station.

Make safe and seamless transfers.

The mezzanine connecting the Blue and Green Lines will be expanded and include new elevators and stairs to speed connections between the rail lines. Bus bays will be consolidated and located adjacent to the new plaza to improve connectivity.

Metro Bike Hub

At the new Metro Bike Hub, you’ll be able to securely park your bike, get free safety gear, shop for bike accessories, get your bike repaired (or learn how to do it yourself), and potentially build your own bike! Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to let Metro know how to make getting to and from the station easier.

Metro Customer Service and Security Center

Metro’s new Customer Service and Transit Security Center will ensure that help is always there if you need it. At the center, you will be able to purchase monthly passes, pick up and submit reduced fare applications, find maps and schedules, and get help with route planning.

Community Plaza

The new Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station plaza is not just for Metro riders. This open-air space has been designed as a public resource to be used for community events year round, special exhibits, celebrations, movie nights, and food trucks.
