A few more strategies to explore

• 4 MAT: This is a complex model of instruction

that incorporates brain research, learning styles,

and actually mirrors the way the brain functions.

Instruction moves through a process of

engagement/involvement.

• RAFT:a writing strategy format that helps students

focus on audience, format, role and topic.  RAFTs

encourage choice, creativity, and variety and are

differentiated by interest and/or learning

profile. RAFTs can be implemented into any subject,

and is an excellent way to assess students'

synthesis of the instruction being received.

Things to try with your students…

• Animoto Students can easily create slideshows with music about a particular historical event, famous figure, travel location, or classroom events. Short text and titles can also be added!

• Glogster This site makes digital posters and motivates students through the interactive features! It's like a poster...that moves!

• Voki Students record a podcast on any topic and then design an avatar to speak their words. Write a diary entry from the point of view of a historical figure, create a debate between two Voki creations on a current event, or even create a Voki that explains how a science experiment works! What about an online "beat poetry" session with Vokis?

• Dabbleboard Tap into the creative side with this interactive page. Draw, design, and map items with the tools and add some color, too.

• MakeBeliefsComix Like to draw or write comic strips? This site will allow you to create a comic online!

• Bookr Students can use images on Flickr to create photobook. It could inspire students to write creative stories, document classroom events, or even create a portfolio of their own photography!

• Wordle.net Using vocabulary words, stories, or even paragraphs describing scientific data, historical events, or accounts from recent classroom events, students can get creative with Wordle and design a visual respresentation of writing!

• Audacity This free program is an excellent way to get started with podcasting! Students can mix in music tracks from sites like Freeplaymusic.com and create a podcast on any topic of interest!

• LiveBinders LiveBinders is your 3-ring binder for the Web– Collect your resources– Organize them neatly and easily– Make an Impression– Best of all, it's FREE!!– Here’s a great one on differentiation.

• Webquests: A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity, which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

• Blogger Why not let students start a blog for their class? Assign students to be "guest blogger" and let them write about what is happening in the classroom. These free blogs could also be used for Flat Stanley projects, weekly questions, student collaboration, and more!

• Discovery Education: There are three Discovery Education Builders that can help you to differentiate instruction by content, process, and/or product. These builders, Assignment Builder, Writing Prompt Builder, and Quiz Builder.
