Celebrate the Ministry Of
Pastor Munz On
Sunday, October 27th
One Service at 10:00 am Followed by
Brunch
You are very, very, welcome there!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Former Bishop Stephen Bouman sometimes would say to pastors
in the fall, “Are you ready to crank it up again?” With all the ac-
tivities that get going in September, it’s always a bit hectic
making sure everything is on track. Additional worship services,
Sunday School Rally Day, confirmation classes, Jr. and Sr. Youth
groups, an adult study program, committee planning, as well as
special events like the Golf Outing and Oktoberfest are all part of cranking it up for the
fall schedule.
When I chose the end of October retirement date last fall, I wanted to have a chance to
“crank it up again” so that everything would be moving along as smoothly as possible
before my departure. I thought it would be best for the congregation to be operating on
all cylinders going into the period of transition.
So far that seems to be working well with the Council and committees taking on some
additional tasks to make sure that the bases are covered and all the worship, education,
fellowship, outreach, social ministry and youth activities are carried on without inter-
ruption.
As the days inch closer to that concluding date, I’m finding that there’s so much to ac-
complish that there’s not much time to think about life after October. I’ll still be clean-
ing out some files and packing the many books in my office. Elizabeth and I have al-
ready been recruited for an extended grandchild sitting stint in mid-November. It will
be difficult for me to realize that my official tenure as pastor will be at an end, but I
know that the congregation will carry on as it always has for the past 98 years. I look
back with deep emotion on our ministry together. I also will look forward to hearing
about your continued commitment to the mission of Jesus Christ and hope to see you
all for a special occasion now and again.
Faithfully,

HOLDING YOUR FAMILY TOGETHER
5 Simple Steps to Help Bring Your Family Closer
to God and Each Other
This is the title of a new book written by the Lu-
theran pastor who writes our confirmation curric-
ulum. On the five Wednesdays of October (2nd-
30th) from 7-8:15 P.M. we’ll be discussing this
powerful book.
Parents wouldn’t think of sending their children
to bed without dinner or without brushing their
teeth or other nightly rituals to keep their children
healthy. Yet often they may overlook taking some specific time to share
their day together as a family, speaking about the Word of God and praying
together. This book outlines ways to instill spiritual practices in our chil-
dren by intentionally making it a priority to take 5-10 minutes to experience
caring, comfort and blessing every night.
Please register by calling the office or speaking to Pastor so that we can or-
der the proper number of books.
