AKI Academy

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the pathogenesis, epidemiology, prevention and therapy of acute kidney injury (AKI). AKI is one of the commonest conditions affecting hospitalised patients. It confers significant risk of morbidity and mortality and has been identified as one of the fastest rising contributors to healthcare costs. The diagnosis and management of this condition is complex and resource intensive. This course is designed for doctors of all grades who wish to undertake a comprehensive update in the subject. It is particularly suitable for speciality registrars undertaking training in nephrology, critical care, acute medicine or other acute care specialities such as Health Services for Older People or Emergency medicine. It will also benefit consultants wishing to undertake a refresher in the subject, more junior doctors such as those in core medical or acute care stem training or members of allied professions with an interest. We have assembled a renowned faculty of AKI experts from the nephrology, critical care and acute medicine fields. All are committed educators who will bring a diversity of expertise to a varied subject. The course mixes didactic teaching sessions with case-based workshops and practical sessions. Delegates can expect to complete the course with a thorough knowledge of conditions causing AKI, strategies for prevention and detection, supportive and disease specific therapies and renal replacement strategies. They will be able to then deploy this knowledge in general acute, renal and critical care areas. For registration pack please contact [email protected] Cost of course £250.00 £150.00 for nursing staff £1,000 for pharmaceutical companies

Registration opens 7 May 2011 Registration closing date 31 October 2012 CPD credit from the Royal College of Physicians of London to be confirmed
