In the past few years, we could observe a growing number of analysis addressing events that have shown the influence of social media in emerging political scenarios
a) What are the emergent needs from civil society?
Citizen-Sourcing (Citizens to Government): the public helps influence directions, results, and work as sensors monitoring service status and new incidents;Linders (2012, p. 447)
We conducted an oriented navigation* in order to accomplish three main tasks:
- sign up- make a report- find your report.
*The oriented navigation is a set of rules guided by a questionnaire in order to provide uniformity during the sample analysis, according to Silva (2012, p. 157)
In summary, the design approaches taken by both city managers (Government to Citizen) and civil society (Citizens to Government) reveals distinct objectives. Governments pursue a better way to get and provide data and information about the city. Citizens may be searching for like-minded people to
The Rio 1746 application focuses on features to receive and respond directly to the user. We noticed that Social Communication and Gamified features are not the application main concern.
The Colab application is a communication tool that links people with common propositions or within a same area. Although the application consists of mainly Social Communication features, based in our literature review, we believe that Gamification features could significantly enhance the user engagement.
