friendly? Here are some important things to remember when thinking
about a user Navigation Information on Website Think Like a
User
Slide 4
Using the Website Navigation This means basically providing a
map for users to move around within a website. Good navigation
includes: A navigation bar: providing a breakdown of the websites
parts and subparts with links to this different areas of the
website. Make sure the user can easily navigate between pages.
Search box: a place to search within the website itself and maybe
even the web itself. Clearly marked and titled pages within the
website.
Slide 5
Using the Website Information on the Website What is your
website all about? Whats on your website? Does the purpose of the
website come through with the information provided on the website?
Plan your website before you design your website. Correlate images,
videos, and graphics with the textual information on the
website.
Slide 6
Using the Website Think Like the User! Just rememberyou are a
user just like the people that will visit and interact with your
website. When designing a website, think about what you would want
and need out of a website and apply those criteria to your own
website development.

look and cohesiveness of a web design White Space Spacing Between
Text, Images, Graphics, and Video Line Space
Slide 8
Spacing White Space This is the blank space or absence of text,
graphics, or video. White space is also used in print design. White
space can be used to draw users eyes to other aspects of the web
design such as the text and graphics. White space also helps with
balance. It is important to have blank space between text and
graphics so web pages dont look crowded or overloaded with
information.
Slide 9
Spacing Spacing between Text, Images, Graphics, and Video Use
proper spacing between all the different elements on the website.
Equal amounts of spacing will help with the overall cohesiveness of
the web design. Allow a users eye to focus on each individual
aspect of the website. They spend more time on the website and get
a better grasp of the website and all of the different components
in the website.
Slide 10
Spacing Line Space Refers to the spacing between lines of text.
Paying attention to line spacing helps with usability. Users must
easily be able to read text on a website. Equal spacing between
lines of text helps to balance the look of the overall web design.
Pay attention to line spacing when publishing the web design on the
Internet. The line spacing may change when it is implemented into
the web.

used in the web design. Select a font type that matches the themes
and goals of the website. Select a readable font type.

font sizes are NEVER necessary. Vary font sizes. Use bigger font
sizes for titles and website headings, while smaller font sizes are
better for the body of the web pages.
Slide 14

overall web design. This will affect the color of the fonts used.
Choose font colors that are easy to read against the chosen
background of your web design. Choose font colors that draw the eye
to text. Use different font colors for links and text. Make it easy
for users to distinguish which is which.

web design. They help to describe details within the textual

images that POP! They should draw a users eye in while still
supporting the information and goals within the website.
Slide 17
Images, Graphics, and Video Graphics Graphics include GIFs, and
other moving animations on the web. These are what really make a
website interactive. Graphics should serve a purpose such as: A
Virtual Tour Games

Video is a good way to provide information of your website without
a user having to spend time readings. Always good for entertainment
