The provincial association’s Award of Merit is presented to se- lected individuals in recognition of contributions to soccer during a period of ten or more years, as a player, manager, coach, official, or administrator at the club, league or district level. Graham has served on the KYSA board for 12 years, including ten consecutive years as President of the organization. Congratulations to the U15 andU17 Girls Select Teams on cap-turing Gold at the Provincial B
Cup in Surrey, July 9th. The U15 Girlswere coached by Ryan and DanielleStrank while the U17 Girls were underthe guidance of Gord Cumming. Thesechampionship-winning teams were twoof eight Kamloops squads that com-peted in this year’s Provincial Cuptournaments. The U18 Girls took Silverin the A Cup and the U14 and U15 Boysand U14 Girls took Silver in the B Cup.The U13 and U16 Boys did well to qual-ify for the provincials but alas did notplace in the medals. Overall, a greathaul for our high performance playersand coaching staff as we begin to showpositive signs with respect to our abil-
ity to take on our coastal opponents inmajor competitions!
Thompson-Rivers University is hostingthe USports Men’s National SoccerChampionships from November 9-12at Hillside Stadium. As hosts, TRU hasan automatic entry into the tourna-ment, which will feature the eight bestuniversity teams in the country overfour days of competition. The organiz-ing committee is meeting on a monthlybasis planning the event which will bethe first national university champi-
