Newstead/Teneriffe has very little traffic outside of peak hours and has very accessible and well serviced public transport such as Brisbane City Council buses including the City Glider Service, Ferries, and the City Cycle service. Parking in the area is traffic controlled with both paid and free parking available. The area has bikeways, and well maintained and pleasant boardwalks along the river front. The Newstead/Teneriffe area is a great demonstration of urban renewal and gentrification and this can be seen, at the old Wool store that has been converted into modern apartments. The areas social push factors include a lack of meeting places, lack of takeaway eateries and a lack of social facilities like dental. The area has many small shops spread- out throughout the suburbs. Economic factors Economically, Newstead/Teneriffe isn’t the best with little job availability. Housing in the area is expensive at $330 (average) per week, making this area unaffordable to many people. On a positive note, there are many schools and lots of competition between boutiques, making it an ideal area to grab a bargain. Environmental factors The Newstead/Teneriffe area contains a lot of mature greenery and shade is available in most areas, making the area feel old and simple. The area appears very clean with little litter and many people hired to clean the streets to ensure that the area not only looks good but also ensures that our waterways remain clean.
