THE PURLINS IN THE ROOFING OF LIGHTWEIGHT STEEL BUILDINGS

The aim of the research – the development of the new type of support arrangement to model continuity of the purlin

2

The purlins can be single

or continuous

3

The most popular solution to arrange continuity of purlins on the supports is overlap

This solution has the following disadvantages and problems:

THE PURLINS IN THE ROOFING OF LIGHTWEIGHT STEEL BUILDINGS

- Purlin overlap is the very complex system and cannot be described by the simple mechanical model;

- Many various factors influence the behaviour of the overlap, e.g. non-linear deformation, local stability problems, presence of the supporting elements, discontinuities at overlaps, eccentricities at load introduction, non-symmetrical cross-section, bolts and openings, etc.

- ……..
