1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Overview
This document provides a description of Alcatel-Lucent 9361 Home Cell V2 (Home Cell in therest of the document) generic variant with W-CDMA 2100MHz operating frequency band. Itdoes not cover the variant with specific listening capabilities in 2G (1900/850MHz) and in 3G (2100/850 MHz) which is introduced in another ProductDescription document. The Product Description provides the characteristics of the HomeCell unit and its key benefits and operational capabilities. The Home Cell product will beintroduced first with releases BCR 2.2, BCR 2.4 and BCR 3.0.
Alcatel-Lucent reserves the right to change the technical specifications without notice until
General Availability of the product.
1.2 Scope of this Document
The Product Description mentions the Home Cell functions but cannot be considered as adetailed feature list or a Plan of Record (PoR). This information is provided in dedicateddocuments on a per software release basis (e.g. Feature Planning Guide for Small Cellsolution, please refer to [1], [2], [3] and [4] in 4.1 Appendix A: Related Reading).
For more general information concerning 9360 Small Cell Solution, refer to [5].
The OAM solution for the Home Cell is described in a dedicated document [6] Small CellManagement System.
Many of the terms used in this document refer to definitions of the 3GPP standards. Wheneveran Alcatel-Lucent specific term is used, it is explicitly elaborated.
The Home Cell Product Description is updated regularly under change control.

The 9360 Small Cell solution uses 3GPP interfaces to connect to the existing mobile corenetwork nodes while offering 3GPP compliant air interface. The backhaul connection from the
Access Point is IP and an IPsec Tunnel is used to guarantee a secure link. Furthermore, an Iu’ interface is supported between the Access Point and the 9366 Small Cells Gateway (whichincludes the 9365 BSR Gateway) from BCR 3.0.
The architecture integrates seamlessly into the operator's existing 3GPP network, including the3G MSC, SGSN and therefore existing Applications, Portals, Services through standard Iu-CSand Iu-PS interfaces. For more information on the Architecture of the solution please refer to[7].
2.3 Benefits
The Home Cell provides new sources of revenue from new home applications enabled by theenhanced indoor coverage and home networking possibilities.
The Home Cell allows the operator to propose bundled offers and include an entire family orgroup into a single agreement. This leads to reduce churn and to allow higher revenue peruser.
The mobile consumers will be able to do voice and bandwidth hungry applications at acompetitive price and also experience enriched services that stick to consumer real time usagepatterns: user generated contents, social networking, gaming, location based services, remotemonitoring and control of consumer domestic appliances…
2.4 Alcatel-Lucent Home Cell
The Home Cell is the most compelling solution to address the fixed mobile convergencemarket and win the battle for the home traffic. The Home Cell provides high quality 3G serviceat home. It is designed to be plug-and-play and connect to a standard 3G core with minimumimpact on the current macro network.
With a fully 3GPP compliant implementation, Alcatel-Lucent 9361 Home Cell allows theconsumer to use the wide range of available 3G devices and applications at home, at lowercall costs (depending on the operator strategy) and with higher data rates.

3G Network Listening
The 3G Network Listening feature allows the Home Cell to act as a UE and receive transmission from neighboring base stations. The feature also allows the Home Cell toautomatically identify, measure and record its neighbor UMTS cells, eliminating the need foroperator provisioned neighbor cell lists. This information is used by the Home Cell toautomatically select its primary scrambling code and power levels to transmit and to createand update a list of UMTS neighbor cells. This neighbor cell list is used by the Home Cell,
when in base station mode, for identification of the target cell for UMTS handover and forrebroadcasting of the system information messages, in support of reselection by the UE.
2G Network Listening
The Home Cell supports a GSM receiver chain and can therefore receive the signal transmittedby the 2G Macro network. The Home Cell can search for and sync to a macro base station, and then decode the BCCH channel. It can then retrieve the relevant information to build andmaintain 2G neighbor lists and target cells for IRAT handover and later, when in base stationmode, to broadcast to the UE for cell reselection. Measurements and information are providedby the network listening feature to the auto-configuration and self-optimization functions.
3.1.4 Antenna
The Home Cell has an integrated 2G/3G omnidirectional antenna with -2dBi gain.
3.1.5 Transmission Power
The Home Cell supports a maximum transmission power of 20mW (13dBm).
3.1.6 Radio Parameters
The Home Cell is designed according to the following parameters in 3GPP TS 25.104specifications.

Power Consumption
The Home Cell power consumption is less than 9W assuming full capacity is used.
3.1.8 Reliability
The MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is calculated based on Telcordia SR-332 Issue 2,September 2006. The MTBF of the Home Cell excluding the power supply at 25°C is 1051Khours.
3.1.9 Security
The Home Cell supports an optional secure device for the authentication of the Access Point: asecure memory can be used to authenticate and store sensitive data in the Access Point (sharedsecret for authentication). From BCR 3.0, the Home Cell can also support digital certificateinstead of this mechanism. However, once the authentication method is configured in theproduct (either shared secret or digital certificate) then there is no way to change it anymore.
