    FRONT BUMPER AA-VEHICLE

    BUMPER AND STANDARD FASCIA REMOVAL

    (FIG. 1)

    (1 ) R em ov e s ock et a n d b u lb fr om p a r k a n d t u r n

    lamp.

    (2) Disconnect horn and fog lamp connectors (if

    equipped).(3) Remove push-in fasteners holding sight shield

    to vertical support in front of radiator.

    (4) Remove n ut s h olding fascia to fender, from be-

    hind forward flan ge of fender.

    (5) Support front bumper assembly on suitable lift-

    i n g d e vi ce a n d r e m ov e b ol t s h ol di n g b u m p er r e in -

    forcement to energy absorber units.

    INSTALLATION

    R ev er s e t h e p r e ce d in g op e r a t ion . Al ig n b u m p er

    height to approximately 3 mm (1/8 in.) gap to bottom

    of h e a d l a m p a s s em b li es a n d fl u sh t o f r on t fe n d er s

    below th e side mar ker lamps.

    BUMPER AND WRAP-AROUND FASCIA

    REMOVAL (FIG. 2)

    (1 ) R em ov e s ock et a n d b u lb fr om p a r k a n d t u r n

    lamp.

    (2) Disconnect horn and fog lamp connectors (if

    equipped).

    (3 ) Re m ov e p u s h -i n p la s t i c fa s t e n er s a t for w a r d

    edge of front wheel opening.(4 ) Re m ov e p a l-n u t fa s t e n er s fr om b eh i n d fr on t

    fe n d er s r e a r w a r d o f t h e s id e m a r k e r l a m p .

    (5) Remove pu sh-in, fasten ers holding sight shield

    to vertical support in front of radiator.

    (6) Remove nuts holding fascia to fender, from be-

    hind forward flange of fender.

    (7) Support front bumper on suitable lifting device

    and remove bolts h olding bumper reinforcement to

    energy absorber units.

    INSTALLATION

    R ev er s e t h e p r e ce d in g op e r a t ion . Al ig n b u m p er

    height to approximately 3 mm (1/8 in.) gap to bottomof h e a d l a m p a s s em b li es a n d fl u s h t o f r on t fe n d er s

    below the side marker lamps.

    BUMPER OVERHAUL (FIG. 3 )

    (1) Position bumper assembly on a suitable padded

    work surface to avoid damage to painted fascia.

    (2) Remove sight shield push-in, fasteners and sep-

    arate shield from assembly.

    (3) Remove air dam screws an d pu sh-in fasteners

    and l ift dam out of retaining channels at ends of fas-

    cia. Remove dam retaining chan nels a nd reinforce-

    ments from fascia (if equipped).

    (4) Remove park and turn signal lamp assemblies,

    see Group 8L, Lamps

    (5 ) R em ov e fog la m p b r a ck e t fr om b ot t om of

    bumper reinforcement (if equipped).

    (6) Remove horns from back of bum per reinforce-

    m e n t .(7 ) R em ov e l ow er a i r i n t a k e l ou v er s cr e ws a n d

    push-in fastener and separate louver from fascia.

    (8) Remove upper reinforcement to fascia attaching

    bolts and separate reinforcement from fascia.

    (9) Straighten toy-tab fasteners holding horizontal

    moulding to fascia a nd separate moulding from two

    sided adhesive tape behind moulding. Remove moul-

    ding from fascia.

    To assemble, reverse the preceding operation.

    FRONT BUMPER AC VEHICLE

    FRONT BUMPER AND STANDARD FASCIA

    REMOVALAC/D OR AC/C-H-BODY (FIG. 4)

    (1) Remove nuts holding fascia to fender, from be-

    hind forward flange of fender.

    (2) Support front bumper assembly on suitable lift-

    i n g d e vi ce a n d r e m ov e b ol t s h ol di n g b u m p er r e in -

    forcement to energy absorber units.

    (3) Separate bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    R ev er s e t h e p r e ce d in g op e r a t ion . Al ig n b u m p er

    height to fit flush to bottom of head lamp assemblies

    and grille.

    FRONT BUMPER OVERHAULAC\ OR AC/C-H-

    BODY(FIG. 4 )

    (1) Position bumper assembly on a suitable pa dded

    (2) Remove pu sh-in fasteners holding fascia to r e-

    inforcement.

    (3) Remove upper reinforcement to fascia attachingbolts and separate reinforcement from fascia.

    To assemble, reverse the preceding operation.

    FRONT BUMPER AND FASCIA REMOVAL

    AC/C-BODY (FIG. 5)

    (1) Raise vehicle and support on safety stands.

    (2) Remove push -in fasteners holding bumper fas-

    cia to front wheel opening lip.

    (3) Support bumper on a suitable l ift ing device.

    (4) Remove nu ts holding bumper reinforcement to

    energy absorbers.

    (5) Separate bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    BUMPER OVERHAULAC/C-BODY

    (1) Position bumper assembly on a suitable pa dded

    work surface to avoid damage to painted fascia.

    (2) Remove bolts holding bumper face bar to rein-

    forcement.

    (3) Remove pu sh-in fasteners holding fascia to re-

    inforcement.

    (4) Separate reinforcement from fascia.To assemble, reverse the preceding operation.

    FRONT BUMPER AG-VEHICLE

    FRONT BUMPER FASCIA REMOVAL (FIG. 6)

    (1) Remove headlamp and fog lamp (if equipped)

    assemblies, refer to Group 8L, Lamps.

    (2) Raise vehicle and support on safety stands.

    (3) Remove radiator closure panel sight shield.

    (4 ) R em ov e p u s h -i n fa s t e n er s h ol di n g fa s ci a t o

    front fender wheel opening flange.

    (5 ) R em ov e n u t s h ol di n g fa s ci a t o fe n d er fr om

    above side m arker reflectors. Remove fender splash

    shields if necessary.

    (6 ) R em ov e n u t s h ol di n g fr on t fa s ci a h e a d la m p

    mounting panel to forward edge of fenders.

    (7) Remove bolts holding fascia headlamp mount-

    ing panel to radiator closure panel brace.

    (8) Remove push-in fasteners holding fascia to bot-

    tom of bumper reinforcement.

    (9 ) Se pa r a t e fr on t b u m pe r fa s ci a a n d h e a dla m p

    mounting panel from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation. If headlamps re-quire aiming, refer to Group 8L, Lamps.

    HEADLAMP MOUNTI NG PANEL

    REMOVALAG-VEHI CLE (FIG. 7)

    (1) Remove all lamp assemblies, refer to group 8L,

    Lamps.

    (2) Remove front bumper fascia.

    (3 ) R em ov e b olt s h old in g fa s cia t o h e a dla m p

    mounting panel ends.

    (4 ) R em ov e p u s h -i n fa s t e n er s h ol di n g fa s ci a t oheadlamp mounting panel.

    (5) Separate headlamp m ounting pa nel from fascia.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation

    FRONT BUMPER REINFORCEMENT

    REMOVALAG-VEHI CLE (FIG. 8)

    (1 ) Re m ov e b u m p er fa s ci a a s n e ce s sa r y t o g a in

    clearance to remove bumper reinforcement.

    (2) Remove nu ts holding bumper reinforcement to

    energy absorber units.

    (3) Separate bumper reinforcement from vehicle.carriage

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation

    FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER

    REMOVALAG-VEHI CLE (FIG. 8)

    (1) Remove front fascia and bumper reinforcement

    as necessary to remove absorber unit .

    (2) Remove bolts holding energy a bsorber unit to

    front closure panel.

    (3) Separate energy absorber from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    FRONT BUMPER AJ-VEHICLE

    REMOVAL (FIG. 9)(1 ) R em ov e s ock e t a n d b u lb fr om p a r k a n d t u r n

    lamp.

    (2) Remove nuts holding fascia to fender, from be-

    hind forward flange of fender.

    (3) Support front bumper assembly on suitable lift-

    i n g d e vi ce a n d r e m ov e b ol t s h ol di n g b u m p er r e in -

    forcement to energy absorber units.

    INSTALLATION

    R ev er s e t h e p r e ce d in g op e r a t ion . Al ig n b u m p er

    height to approximately 5 mm (0.200 in.) gap to bot-

    tom of gril le and flush to front fenders on the sides.

    FRONT BUMPER AP-VEHICLE

    REMOVAL (FIG. 10 )

    (1) Raise vehicle and support on safety stands.

    lamp assembly and position socket out of the way.

    (4 ) Re m ov e b ol t h ol di n g fr on t b u m p er fa s ci a t o

    wheelhouse splash shield.

    (5) Remove nuts holding fascia to front fender.

    (6) Support front bumper on lifting device.(7) Remove bolts holding front bumper reinforce-

    ment to energy absorber units.

    (8) Separate front bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    FRONT BUMPER AY-VEHICLE

    BUMPER AND FASCIA REMOVALAY/P-BODY

    (FIG. 11)

    (1 ) R e m ov e w h e el h ou s e s p la s h s h ie ld s a s n e ce s -

    sary to gain access to fascia attaching nuts.

    (2) Remove lower fascia bott om extension cover.

    (3) Remove nuts holding fascia to fender, from be-

    hind forward flange of fender.

    (4) Support front bumper assembly on suitable lift-

    ing device.

    (5 ) Re m ov e n u t s h old in g b u m pe r t o e n er g y a b -

    sorber units.

    (6) Separate bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATIONR ev er s e t h e p r e ce d in g op e r a t ion . Al ig n b u m p er

    height to fit flush to bottom of filler panel.

    FRONT BUMPER AND FASCIA REMOVALAY/

    S-BODY (FIG. 12)

    (1) Raise vehicle and support on safety stands.

    (2) Remove push -in fasteners holding bumper fas-

    cia to front wheel opening lip.

    (3) Support bumper on a suitable l ift ing device.

    (4) Remove nu ts holding bumper reinforcement to

    energy absorbers.

    (5) Separate bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    BUMPER OVERHAULAY/S-BODY

    (1) Position bumper assembly on a suitable pa dded

    work surface to avoid damage to painted fascia.

    (2) Remove bolts holding bumper face bar to rein-

    forcement.

    (3) Remove pu sh-in fasteners holding fascia to re-

    inforcement.

    (4) Separate reinforcement from fascia.

    To assemble, reverse the preceding operation.

    REAR BUMPER AA-VEHICLE

    REAR BUMPER AND STANDARD FASCIA

    REMOVAL (FIG. 13 )

    ( 1 ) O p e n t r u n k l i d a n d s e p a r a t e q u a r t e r p a n e l l i n -

    ers (if equipped) from tail panel area.

    (2) Remove rear fascia at taching nuts at rear of in-

    ner quarter panel drop-down wells.

    (3) Remove lower fascia pu sh-in fast eners holding

    fascia to bottom of bumper reinforcement.

    (4 ) Re m ov e fa s cia n u t s h old in g fa s cia t o t r u n k

    opening panel.

    (5) Remove fascia bolts holding fascia to ends of

    bumper reinforcement.

    (6) Separate fascia from reinforcement and sepa-

    rate fascia from vehicle.(7) Support bumper reinforcement. Remove rein-

    for ce m en t a t t a ch in g b olt s a n d s ep a r a t e a s se m bly

    from energy absorbers.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    REAR BUMPER AND WRAP-AROUND FASCIA

    REMOVAL (FIG. 14 )

    (1) Remove push-in fasteners holding rear fascia to

    rearward edge of wheel opening.

    (2 ) O pen t r u n k lid a n d s ep a ra t e q ua r t er p a ne l

    liner from tail panel area ,if equipped.

    (3) Remove pal-nut fasteners located behind quar-

    ter panel, holding fascia to quarter panel.

    (4) Perform steps 2 through 7 of Rear Bumper and

    Standard Fascia Removal/Installation procedure.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    REAR BUMPER AC-VEHICLE

    REMOVALAC/D-BODY (FIG. 15)

    (1) Disconnect license plate lamps wire connectors.

    (2 ) R em ov e n u t s h ol di n g fa s ci a t o q u a r t e r p a n e l

    ends.

    (3 ) S u p p or t b u m p er a s s em b ly on s u it a b le l ift i n g

    device and remove bolts holding bumper reinforce-

    ment to energy absorber units.

    (4) Separate bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    R ev er s e t h e p r e ce d in g op e r a t ion . Al ig n b u m p er

    height to fi t f lush to bottom of tail lamp.

    REAR BUMPER OVERHAULAC/D-BODY

    (FIG. 16 )

    (1) Position bumper assembly on a suitable pa dded

    work surface to avoid damage to painted fascia.

    (3) Remove push-in fasteners holding fascia to bot-

    tom of reinforcement.

    (4) Remove bolts holding fascia to reinforcement

    and separate fascia from reinforcement.

    (5) Remove bolts holding bumper guards to fascia

    and separate guards from fascia.

    To assemble reverse the preceding operation.

    (1) In luggage compart ment, separate l iners fromquarter panels to gain access to fascia nuts.

    (2) Remove nuts holding bumper fascia to quarter

    panels.

    wheel opening flange.

    (4) Disconnect license plate lamp wire connectors.

    (5) Remove bolts holding bumper to rear closure

    panel.

    (7) Separate bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATIONReverse the preceding operation.

    REAR BUMPER AG-VEHICLE

    compartment tail panel.

    (3 ) Re m ov e n u t s h ol di n g fa s ci a e n d s t o q u a r t e r

    panel end flanges.

    (4 ) R em ov e p op -r i ve t s h ol di n g b u m p er fa s ci a t o

    wheel lip flanges.

    (5) Remove nuts holding bumper fascia to quarter

    panel along belt l ine.

    (6 ) S u p p or t r e a r b u m p er a s s em b ly on l ift i n g d e -

    vice.(7 ) R em ov e n u t s h ol di n g r e a r b u m p er r e in for ce -

    ment to energy absorbers.

    (8) Separate bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    REAR BUMPER AJ-VEHICLE

    REMOVAL (FIG. 19 )

    (1 ) Re m ov e n u t s h old in g r e a r fa s cia t o q u a r te r

    panel ends.

    (2) Remove push-in fasteners holding fascia to bot-

    tom of bumper reinforcement.

    (3) Remove nuts holding fascia to trunk tail panel.

    (4) Remove bolts holding fascia to ends of bumper

    reinforcement.

    (5) Separate fascia from reinforcement and sepa-

    rate fascia from vehicle.

    (6) Su pport bumper reinforcement on a l ift ing de-vice. Remove bolts holding reinforcement to en ergy

    absorbers. Separa te reinforcement from energy ab-

    sorbers.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    gage retainers from quarter panel.

    (5) Separate front bumper from vehicle.

    INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.

    (2) Remove bolts holding bumper face bar to rein-

    forcement and separate face bar from assembly.

    (3) Remove pu sh-in fasteners holding fascia to re-

    inforcement.

    (4) Remove upper reinforcement to fascia attaching

    bolts and separate reinforcement from fascia.

    To assemble, reverse the preceding operation.

    REAR BUMPER REMOVALAY/S-BODY

    (1) In luggage compartm ent, separate l iners from

    CROSSMEMBER

    REMOVAL (FIG. 12 )

    (1) Hoist vehicle and support on safety stands. Re-

    fe r t o G r ou p 0 , L u br ica t ion a n d M a in t e n a n ce for

    proper procedures.

    (2) Remove front wheels.

    (3) Disconnect lower ball joints from the knuckle

    assembly. Refer to Group 2, Su spension for proper

    procedures.

    (4) Disconn ect power steering hose t ie-down from

    rear upper edge of crossmember, if equipped.

    (5 ) R e m ov e b ol t s h ol di n g s t e er i n g g ea r t o cr os s -

    member. Refer to Group 19, Steering for proper pro-

    cedures.

    (6 ) R em ov e b ol t h ol di n g e n gi n e d a m p e r s t r u t t o

    crossmember, if equipped with manual transaxle.

    (7) Support crossmember on a suitable l ift ing de-

    vice.

    (8 ) R e m ov e n u t s h ol di n g r e a r of cr os s m em b er t ot h e fr a m e .

    (9 ) R em ov e b ol t s h ol di n g cr os s m em b er t o fr a m e

    from above lower control arms.

    (10) Separate the crossmember from the vehicle.

    (11) Transfer lower control a rms and sway elimi-

    n a t o r s h a ft t o n e w cr os s m em b er , i f c r os s m em b er i s

    b ei n g r e p la ce d . R efe r t o G r ou p 2 , S u s p en s ion for

    proper procedure.

    CROSSMEMBER INSTALLATION

    Reverse the preceding operation.
