The five-member EAC will be headed by NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy and will include NITI Aayog's Principal Advisor Ratan Watal as its member and econ- omists Surjit Bhalla, Rathin Roy and Ashima Goyal as part-time members, according to an official statement. "The five-member coun- cil consists of economists of high repute and eminence," said the statement. Terms of reference of the EAC would be to "analyse any issue, economic or otherwise, referred to it by the prime minister and advising him thereon," the statement said. It will also "address issues of macroeconomic impor- tance" and present its views to the prime minister, it said, adding "This could be either suo-motu or on reference from the prime minister or anyone else." It's terms of reference also includes attending to "any other task as may be desired by the prime min- ister from time to time," the statement said. Formation of the EAC by the prime minister comes over three years after he assumed power and at a time when the GDP has slipped to 5.7 per cent in April-June quarter, the lowest since May 2014. About 1200 to 1500 people from village Nawapachi, Rarr, Changer, Dhehrana, Hanzal Machhana, Yourdu, Pathgam, Satrawgan, Kedra- na, Hynen, Dehrai etc partici- pated in the hearing Dr. Yashpaul, senior Sci- entist, Head Labs and state Board analyst from SPCB made the general public aware about the importance of public hearing and role of Pollution Control Board for conducting such hearings as per Environment impact Assessment Notification of MOEF, Govt of India in 2006. The environmental con- sultants from Kashmir Uni- versity, General Manager NHPC (Environment) from corporate office, Dr. Shahid Ali Khan briefed the audi- ence with regard to the Envi- ronment Management Plan (EMP) including Rehabilita- tion and Resettlement Plan for the project affected area. DDC Angrez Singh Rana in his address assured the people that all their views and concerns have been record and shall be submitted to MOEF for consideration. Centre extends MSP scheme for minor forest produce New Delhi, Sep 25: In a bid to provide a wider platform to tribals to sell their pro- duce, the government on Monday announced extension of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme for Minor Forest Produce (MFP) to all the states in the country. Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram made the announcement regarding pan-India exten- sion of the scheme -- initially introduced in nine states in 2014 -- during a National Work- shop on Minimum Support Price for Minor Forest Produce here. The MFP could be the largest generator of revenue after minerals, he added. In the workshop, Tribal CoOperative Mar- keting Development Federation (TRIFED) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Amazon Seller Services for the sale of tribal products through the e-commerce platform. The MSP, a form of market intervention by the government, for MFP scheme provides a safety net for the tribals against excessive fall in the forest produce's prices. MFP is a major source of livelihood for trib- als, who belong to the poorest of the poor sec- tions of society. IANS Srinagar, Sep 25: In connec- tion with Apple Year launch, Secretary Horticulture, Manzoor Ahmad Lone today convened a meeting with its coordination committee. The meeting was attend- ed by Director Information Muneer-ul-Islam, Direc- tor Horticulture Kashmir Mathora Masoom, Direc- tor Horticulture Planning and Management Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood Shah, Director Floriculture Muhammad Hussain Mir and various other officers of Horticulture, J&K Bank and SKUST. The Secretary was informed by the member of the committee that all arrangement are being done regarding the ‘Apple Year’ launch. Lone directed the commit- tee to coordinate for launch- ing publicity campaigns and mass awareness camps for traders and growers regard- ing ‘Apple Year’ launch. He said that in a bid to promote Kashmiri Apple in domestic as well as interna- tional market the committee will look after the arrange- ments being made for the celebration of Apple Year for next two years. The Secretary directed the Horticulture Department to work in close coordination with J&K Bank, Tourism Department and SKUAST for better media and event management for ‘Apple Year’ launch. The members will coor- dinate various activities for celebration of ‘Apple Year’ as announced by the Chief Minister during the launch of High Density Plantation Scheme in February this year. Terming horticulture as the backbone of State’s econ- omy, the Secretary Horticul- ture said that the horticulture industry has huge potential to boost the socio economic scenario of the State. He said the Government is taking a slew of measures to revamp- ing the industry and Apple Year Celebration will act as road map to achieve the goal. Kulgam, Sep 25: An open auction for grant of minor mineral mining rights on Vishow Nallah was today held in Kulgam under the chair- manship of District Develop- ment Commissioner Talat Parvez Rohella. The auctions for grant of minor mineral mining rights on the Nallah include lease for a period of 5 years as per the J&K Minor Minerals Conces- sion, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016. Five out of fifteen blocks auctioned were allotted during the auctioning process. The remaining ten blocks will be re-auctioned. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said the pro- cess entails checking of illegal mining operations on Vishow Nallah besides generating rev- enue for the State. Pertinently, this is the first time that an open auction of minor minerals has been held. Centre extends MSP scheme for minor forest produce New Delhi, Sep 25: In a bid to provide a wider platform to tribals to sell their pro-duce, the government on Monday announced extension of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme for Minor Forest Produce (MFP) to all the states in the country. Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram made the announcement regarding pan-India exten-sion of the scheme -- initially introduced in nine states in 2014 -- during a National Work-shop on Minimum Support Price for Minor Forest Produce here.

The MFP could be the largest generator of revenue after minerals, he added.

In the workshop, Tribal CoOperative Mar-keting Development Federation (TRIFED) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Amazon Seller Services for the sale of tribal products through the e-commerce platform.

The MSP, a form of market intervention by the government, for MFP scheme provides a safety net for the tribals against excessive fall in the forest produce's prices.

MFP is a major source of livelihood for trib-als, who belong to the poorest of the poor sec-tions of society. IANS

Srinagar, Sep 25: In connec-tion with Apple Year launch, Secretary Horticulture, Manzoor Ahmad Lone today convened a meeting with its coordination committee.

The meeting was attend-ed by Director Information Muneer-ul-Islam, Direc-tor Horticulture Kashmir Mathora Masoom, Direc-tor Horticulture Planning and Management Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood Shah, Director Floriculture Muhammad Hussain Mir and various other officers of Horticulture, J&K Bank and SKUST.

The Secretary was informed by the member of the committee that all arrangement are being done regarding the ‘Apple Year’ launch.

Lone directed the commit-tee to coordinate for launch-ing publicity campaigns and mass awareness camps for traders and growers regard-ing ‘Apple Year’ launch.

He said that in a bid to promote Kashmiri Apple in

domestic as well as interna-tional market the committee will look after the arrange-ments being made for the celebration of Apple Year for next two years.

The Secretary directed the Horticulture Department to work in close coordination with J&K Bank, Tourism Department and SKUAST for better media and event management for ‘Apple Year’ launch.

The members will coor-dinate various activities for celebration of ‘Apple Year’ as announced by the Chief Minister during the launch of High Density Plantation Scheme in February this year.

Terming horticulture as the backbone of State’s econ-omy, the Secretary Horticul-ture said that the horticulture industry has huge potential to boost the socio economic scenario of the State. He said the Government is taking a slew of measures to revamp-ing the industry and Apple Year Celebration will act as road map to achieve the goal.

The auctions for grant of minor mineral mining rights on the Nallah include lease for a period of 5 years as per the J&K Minor Minerals Conces-sion, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of

Illegal Mining Rules, 2016.Five out of fifteen blocks

auctioned were allotted during the auctioning process. The remaining ten blocks will be re-auctioned.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said the pro-cess entails checking of illegal mining operations on Vishow Nallah besides generating rev-enue for the State.

Pertinently, this is the first time that an open auction of minor minerals has been held.

SSM college hosts workshop on data analytics

Srinagar, Sep 25: A national-level workshop on ‘data analytics of cloud based IoT’ was held at SSM college of engineering and technology.

The two day workshop, which con-cluded on September 24, was attended by a rich gathering including partici-pants from outside the state.

The speakers included IT profes-sionals and experts from industry and academia. S H Abbas Nehvi, joint director software technology parks of India was the chief guest.

The opening ceremony was initi-

ated by vice-chairperson of the college Dilafroz Qazi.

The speakers highlighted the data impact on the development of people, business organizations, and govern-ments and eventually the value added services it provides.

“The two-day event was a platform for young learners to appreciate the importance of big data and cloud com-puting in present scenario.

Participants were introduced to the concept of business analytics with big data technologies,” a statement here said.
