KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA MajorAchievements Implementation of Technology Demonstration on pulses (Pigeonpea) : Krishi Vigyan Kendra, CICR, Nagpur has implemented technology demonstration on pigeonpea (BSMR376)during kharif and chick f!!!!'•• IJi!I""~W;iI.iii-i~ pea (Vijay) during rabi 2014-15 on 30 acre of land in Hingna and Saoner taluka. With introduction of improved variety of pigeon- pea, the yield was increased by 24.5% over variety ICPL87119. In case of chick pea the yield improvement was 33.3%over localcheck. Agronomy : KVK has conducted OFT on High Density Planting System (HDPS)of variety Suraj in Khapri and Sonegaon village of Kalmeshwar block in collaboration with State agriculture department. Three FLDson Arhar (BSMR-736), Wheat (AKAW- 4627) and Linseed (PKV NL-260) were also conducted in village Umred and Bhiwapur of Nagpur districts. In OFT, cv. Suraj recorded 12.34% higher yield over the Bt check. In FLDs, varieties of Linseed (PKV NL- 260), Arhar (BSMR-736), Wheat (AKAW-4627) were superior over local checks by 30.8%, 21.8% and31.3% respectively. Soil Testing: Soil samples were collected from Umrer, Bhivapur, Katol, Kalmeshwar, Saoner, Ramtek, Narkhed and Kuhi blocks of the Nagpur district through Mobile Soil Testing Van and 540 72 2014- 15 ANNUAL REPORT soil health cards were distributed to the beneficiaries. Horticultural Fruit Crops: KVKhas established an orchard in its farm. The objective was to demonstrate the potential variety of fruit crops suitable for Vidarbha region. The Guava (L-49), Pomegranate (Bhagwa), Orange (Nagpur man- darin) and Sweet Orange (Ka tol Gold) were dem- onstrated to large number offarmers, extension functionaries, rural youths and. other visitors. Dairy and Livestock enterprises • KVK has conducted front line demonstration on 20 cross breed Jersey ~~~~~;;{7~~ cows in Wai (Khurd), Kondhasawali, Wai (Buzurg), Metpanjra, Hatla, of Katol tehsil by feeding bypass fat @ 200 g/ day/ cow in the diet of just calved cows. Averagebody weight ofmatured henwas more inSwarnadharaby 37.21% and Giriraj by 30.95%. Thesurvivability rate was at par with localchicken.
Azolla production unit at KVK : Azollaproduction unit has established at KVK

technology park during the year 2014-15. KVKis producing about 15kg. Azolla culture from apond of size 12'x9' every 15 days andestablished more than 20 Azolla productionunit in Nagpur district on farmers' fields. Frontline demonstrations on feeding of Azolla @ 1-2kg to their cattle in replacement of concentratefeed was conducted on 10 farmers' field. Byfeeding Azolla 19.85%increase in average milkyield of cows, 10% increase in milk fat and14.28% increase in conception rate wasobserved.

Advisory Service/K-MAS• Advisory Service provided : KVK has
provided advisory services to the farmer, ruralyouth and extension workers on agriculturalproduction and protection technology andallied fields through Daily Agrowon, Dr.PDKV, State Agriculture Department, KVKwebsite (weekly weather forecasting) and bypersonnel guidance, telephonic calls andmobile services. Sofor 21047clients in Nagpurdistrict were benefited.
• Kisan Mobile Advisory Services (K-MAS) :Through this technology, 636clients/farmerswere registered during 2014-15 and 29messages were sent to the farmers/ruralyouth/ extension functionaries.
Cotton harvesting bagKVK-CICR cotton picking bag is gammgpopularity due to its advantage of collecting moreand clean cotton.This has resulted inincrease inefficiency of ruralwomen withhigher income.KVK- CICR hasreceived an orderof 710 cottonharvesting bagsfrom AFPRO,BAIF-MITTRA,DSAO, Nagpur.These bags weredistributed astechnical input tothe 149villages covering 9talukas ofYeotmaland 4talukas of Nagpur district. KVK has generatedrevenue of Rs. 1,17,315/- during August 2014 toJanuary 2015through saleof these bags.On Farm Trial on Home Science1. Assessment of charcoal briquettes-Analternative: Assessment of charcoal briquettescooking fuel was conducted on 20 farm women'sfield. The traditional coal and bio-briquettes madefrom cotton stalk was compared in terms ofquantity, cost, ash recovered and time required by
