As a church family during this Easter Season please remember those that have lost loved ones over the last year. As we grieve for those who have entered their eternal rest,

may we grieve with the hope of eternal life!

Libby Scholten has asked that we pray for her as she will be undergoing a biopsy to determine if she has some abnormal cell growth, which the doctors suspect is the case. May the Lord grant her patience and peace as she awaits word and goes through the process of then determining what the cause might be.

Next week we get to witness as Erin Miedema publicly professes her faith and lays claim to the promises that were sealed to her by Christ at her baptism.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

--ANNUAL SOCITY MEETING at Unity Christian High School: Please mark your calendars to join us on Tuesday, April 18 at 7:00pm in the Knight Center. This meeting will include approving the 2017-18 budget, a foundation report, election of new board members, and annual update of the school. Board nominees include: Shannon Schreurs (Sheldon Immanuel CRC); Brent Philipsen & Nathan Bousema (Orange City Redeemer URC); Brandon Woudstra & Brenda Walhof (Orange City E-Free). This is not the meeting to vote on the building project.

--MEN’S BIBLE STUDY GROUP will be meeting this week! Wednesday the 19th and Thursday the 20th. The Wednesday group has finished their discussion material and will be looking at some ideas for next year and doing some planning for next month’s meeting. The Thursday group will be going through the last discussion session with Dr. Keller.

--IRETON VBS FUNDRAISER SUPPER & BAKE SALE will be on Wednesday, April 19 from 5:00 – 7:30pm at the Ireton Community Center. Free will donation. Menu will include: Pork loin sandwiches, cheesy potatoes, beans, macaroni salad, oreo fluff, ice cream sundaes and lemonade. Take out trays available. A sign-up sheet for donations has been placed on the back table.

--FREE SENIOR LIVING AND CARE OPTIONS SEMINAR “While everyone wants their loved ones to remain in their homes as long as possible with a high quality of life, many of these individuals and their families must eventually make decisions concerning other long term care options. It is important to make well-informed decisions that ensure everyone’s unique personal needs are met. Dordt College, Hope Haven, Inc and Northwestern College have partnered together to bring you this FREE seminar on Wednesday, April 19 at Sioux Center’s Terrace View Event Center from 6:30PM -8PM. We have recruited a panel of senior living and care professionals who will be sharing their insight and knowledge, gained from on the job experiences, education and experiences with current regulations. ADVANCED ANNOUNCEMENTS

--GEMS - Our final GEMS' gathering, other than GEMS Sunday, will be Wednesday, April 26 at 6:30pm.  All Moms and Treasured Friends (Prayer Partners) are invited to attend.  If your Mom cannot make it, please feel free to ask someone of your choice. A small meal will be served, a short program given by the girls, and badges will be handed out that the girls have worked on throughout the year.

--SIOUXLAND YOUTH FOR CHRIST CITY LIFE TEEN CENTER will be celebrating their 1st Anniversary with an open house on Sunday, April 30 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm at 1305 23rd Street, Hawarden, IA. Everyone is invited.

GEAR UP FOR VBS!!!

The CRC church is hosting VBS this year from July 31-Aug 4. The theme is "Maker Fun Factory", where kids

learn that they are Built for a Purpose!  It's going to be so fun!!  So, mark your calendars and be thinking of

ways you can help. A smooth running VBS requires MANY volunteers!  Our goal is 1 adult per 5 kids and we

are hoping for 120 kids!  So, we need YOU! For most of the volunteer positions, there is NO PREPARATION

NECESSARY. There are many areas where we can use you!  One area is a Group Guide where you are with a

group of kids and guide them from station to station and supervise. Another area of need is the kitchen. All

snacks are already planned, we just need you to prepare and serve. Are Games your thing? We can use some

energetic adults to lead and help the kids play games.  If you have a talent in crafting, we could use your extra

hands in assisting the kids in the craft area. Maybe you have a heart for the preschoolers. I'm sure Miss Stina

would appreciate any extra bodies to help contain all of those fun bundles of energy!  All you need to do is

commit to 3 hours a night for 5 nights! Please consider what areas you can help in. You can talk to Angela

Kuperus or

Pamela Fedders if you have any questions, or would like to sign up to help. Thank you for helping us make this

a God Filled week for so many kids in our Community!

IMMEDIATE VBS NEEDS:We have already been busy building the set of our Fun Factory, but we are in need of some more supplies.  If

you can help in donating any of the following items soon, we would appreciate it!

*  5 gallon buckets that you do not need back

*  Paint - partially used (go look in your basement!)  bright colors, and shades of brown needed. 

Spray paint or cans

*  On the back table there is a list of donations needed for the fundraiser supper (coffee, juice, and Oreo salad)

LONG TERM NEEDS:*  There will be a work night(s) planned to prepare ceramic nativity pieces. There are many pieces, and many

hands make light work.  We will let you know the date as that gets closer, but if you could help us out in that

way, we would appreciate it.

*  As we continue planning, we will be updating the Donation Board on the back table as needs arise.  Please
