He is buried with his wife

on his plantation.

Our Nation’s Capitol

The Capitol is where laws and rules

are made and where the President

of the United States works. The

Capitol has a huge statue that

weighs 15,000 lbs. They also have

beautiful pictures in the Capitol.

Basilica

The Basilica of the National

Shrine of the Immaculate

Conception is one of the biggest

churches in Washington DC. The

church has two levels in it. They

have six masses daily.

Monticello

Monticello is the home of Thomas Jefferson the 3rd president of the United States. He wrote the Declaration of Independence which is a document that freed the US from Great Britain. He had slaves at his home.

Ice Skating

In Washington DC, you can go ice skating. It took a long time before we could ice skate well. Father Higginbotham ice skated with us too.

Washington Monument

The Washington Monument is a

tall building where we

remember the first president.

To get money to build it, each

state gave money for a brick to

be included in the structure, in

honor of the USA. The biggest

brick belongs to New York.

Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington National Cemetery

is a cemetery where more

than 400,000 soldiers and

their families are buried. It’s

also where the famous

unknown soldiers are buried.

The first person buried there

was Private William

Christman.

Lincoln Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial is a memorial for Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of the United states. He helped end slavery. He wrote two famous speeches that are on the memorial, the Gettysburg Address and his Second Inaugural Address

Vietnam Memorial

The Vietnam Memorial is a

long wall with names of the

people who died during war.

They only have seven

women’s names on the wall.

It’s in a giant shape of a “v”

and a 19 year old girl created

it. Her name is Maya Ying Lin.
