JUNIORS On the 4th of August the Kulin Kondinin Juniors played Narembeen in Narembeen. It was a hot day for the
players. The game was well fought and the scores were tight all the way to the end. Congratulations to Dylan
Rader for winning the ten dollar award. Throughout the day KKJFC players were sent to play for Narembeen as
they were short on players. On the last quarter Lachie Biglin put the Narem' jumper on and kicked a goal for the
opposition! The final scores were: NAREMBEEN: 47 vs KKJFC: 32
SENIORS Last week it was unfortunate that again, the Reserves boys went down. In a tight contest against Narembeen, it
was goal for goal throughout the middle section of the game. At three quarter time with only 1 point in it, we
hoped that our boys could steal the points from the top side but it was not to be. Of notable mention was Mick’s
push in the first quarter, which by all accounts was far less effective than his effort 3 months ago.

The League game was a great hit out against our historical rivals. While we kicked away in the second quarter,
Narem really fought back and challenged throughout the third and fourth quarters which made it a contest to the
end. To our credit we managed to up the pressure when we needed to, but have to learn not to go to sleep and let
sides back in. Award Winners

Kulin Hockey Club by Simone Lockyer Finally we had a day of hockey with no rain, but that didn’t stop us from doing silly things on the field. Playing on
our home ground against Karlgarin/Hyden the juniors started off the day with a great game winning 3-1. The B grade then followed it up by winning 6 nil, leaving Sarah in the goals rather bored. With the A grade coach scoring
3 of the goals she put the pressure on the A grade to score just as many goals or there would be consequences.
Sadly they didn’t score 6 goals but they did have a win of 1 nil.
This week’s Pearla award went to Barbara Bunworth. Although Barbara says she got it for playing awesome, that
wasn’t the case. As Barbara went to fetch the ball, instead of throwing the ball back on the field she thought she
might make herself run some more and throw it 50m backwards. Good work Barb.

Regional towns often boast fascinating old buildings that can't be found in the big smoke, and leading up to the 2013 Bush Races Weekend, Kulin will allow visitors and locals to take a trip down memory lane. The Shire of Kulin has recently received funding through the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund to show off our heritage buildings in the main street using two different roving outdoor performances - ‘Kulin Open Doors’ and ‘Kulin by Night’. Utilising professional actors, community members and setting up clues and scenes, this project is all about bringing the memories of Kulin to life, and giving locals and newcomers a taste of the town's history. Kulin Open DoorsKulin Open DoorsKulin Open DoorsKulin Open Doors - will be a self-guided exploration where people will make their own way to various buildings and places and meet some of the ‘characters’ which once had a connection to the place and to the town. This will be held during the day on the Thursday and Friday. Kulin By NightKulin By NightKulin By NightKulin By Night – will be an evening performance held on the Thursday and Friday night. This will be a formal guided tour for which limited tickets will be available at a minimal cost through the Shire of Kulin. There will also be an opportunity for local community who may be busy with the Bush Races to attend a dress rehearsal of ‘Kulin by Night’ on the Wednesday night before Bush Races. Stay tuned for more info! Keen to be involved? We would love to hear from you! Keen to be involved? We would love to hear from you! Keen to be involved? We would love to hear from you! Keen to be involved? We would love to hear from you!
The Shire has teamed up with 'Scooplight Theatre' who in collaboration with the Kulin community will develop the ‘Kulin Open Doors’ and ‘Kulin by Night’ experiences. There are many ways which interested community members of all ages can be involved:
• Help with the research and development - Share your story or a memory associated with one or more of our heritage buildings
• Man and welcome visitors to different buildings which are part of the experience
• Take on a supporting acting role
• Provide feedback to the project If you would like to be involved or would like to know more, please contact Gen Whisson at the Shire of Kulin. A big thank you to those who have already offered to help and/or supplied memories, historical information and ideas for the project.
