25-26 March, 2014 London, UK
Dear Colleague,
HR IQ is delighted to present the fi rst ever Next Gen Workforce
Summit taking place 25-26th March 2014 in London, UK.
Cost pressures, especially in tough economic conditions, mean
that businesses must ensure all their staff are motivated and
focused on creating value while at work. Holding onto experienced
and skilled staff is also important to maintain quality and contain
costs. Building on this, the best employers recognise the benefi ts
of two-way exibility to ensure they can provide quality services
when customers need them. New ways of working have spread rapidly
over the past decade, driven by the demands of the 24/7 economy and
technological advances. Alongside the people aspect of the
business, the physical workplace has dramatically changed over the
past 5 years with the rise of exible working, mobility and
co-working.
But how can companies adapt their current working spaces to
include new exible structures and reduce costs? What strategies,
processes and technology need to be put in place to be able to
achieve this?
This conference will look at not only the processes and
technology HR Directors need to look at to ensure an agile
workplace, but also the knock on effects of the wider business,
with cross function sessions designed to bring the most value to
the whole decision making unit to ensure a cohesive strategy.
With an innovative conference format that allows you to engage
the cross-function management of your company, this promises to be
a comprehensive explanation of how to road map your workplace
strategy to the benefi t of the whole business.
I look forward to meeting you in London in March 2014.

Day One - 25 March, 2014
Segment 1: Facilitating the change to Next Generation WorkingHow
to prepare, recruit and manage the entry of the next generation
workforce to your business
Segment 2: Managing the Flexible WorkforceEnsuring effective
people management as part of business agility
08:15 Registration & Networking Coffee 09:00 IQPC Welcome
09:10 Chairmans Opening Remarks 09:20 Keynote Address the future of
the workplace
10:00 Case Study: Recruiting, the mobile wayThose entering the
work force today have very different ideas about the recruitment
process, and expectations of their future employers. What do
companies need to do to prepare for this, and how can technology
advances ease the process? Dominik Hahn, Head of Global Online
Employer Branding, Allianz SE
10:30 Future talent - a knowing-doing gap?There is a lot of talk
about future workforce, and the ways in which it will impact our
organisations in terms of recruitment, engagement, motivation and
career development. But is there a risk that the solutions we are
considering are still based to too large a degree upon historical
HR and career mindsets which are fail to consider sufficiently
fundamental questions. In his talk, Nick will challenge some of the
sacred cows which perhaps still graze happily in our approaches to
talent, and challenge us as to why we are not thinking more
fundamentally about how we match talent approaches WITHIN
organisations to emerging talent and career trends in the
market.Nick Kemsley, Co-Director, Henley Business School
11:00 Case Study The hyper connected workforce In this case
study, we will hear how one business is preparing for the future
workforce, and looking at how to leverage the hyper connectivity
that has come to characterise the 21st century to best effect for
recruitment and talent management. Stijn De Groef, Senior Global
Talent Manager, Swarovski
11:30 Networking break
12:00 Case Study Agile working in practiceThis case study will
discuss increasing levels of quality, attracting and retaining
talent and increasing productivity through agile working.Ian
Greenaway, Managing Director, MTM Products Ltd
12:30 Managing current and future workforce engagementWhile many
companies focus on road mapping the next 5 years of their employee
journey with a heavy focus on the next generation, is this done at
the cost of current employee engagement? How can you strike a
balance between appealing to the future workforce while avoiding
disengagement of current personnel?Jenny Burns, Communications and
Engagement Director, RSA
13:00 Networking Lunch
14:15 Managing flexible workingCompanies are quickly realising
that allowing employees the ability to choose when, where and how
they work can lead to a better quality of service to clients and
the business, but many are at a loss to the real implementation and
management of flexible working. In this case study, you will hear
how a leading company went from supporting flexible working
arrangements as exceptions to making them business as usual.
14:45 Tracking employee productivityA common misconception of
flexible working is the loss of employee productivity in the face
of reduced hands on management. While trust in the workforce is key
to the success of a flexible scheme, there are management tools
available to track productivity and this session will cover how,
and when it is suitable, to implement them.
15:15 Managing benefits the next generation offeringThe new
workforce are much more demanding when it comes to benefits
offered, and active personal management of what they have access
to. A key component of this ensuring you are educating personnel to
get the most from their benefits an often overlooked area of the
benefits programme. Here, we look at how a well put together
educational programme can boost employee engagement, and increase
the value of your benefits offering.Martin Ratelband, Director
Global Compensation & Benefits, B/E Aerospace
15:45 Networking Break
16:15 Case Study Offering flexibility as standard In order to
attract and retain top talent, flexibility is becoming an integral
part of business process. In this session we will look at the way
one company continually seeks to ensure their flexible working
policies and practices remain ahead of the competition. Sally
Evans, Diversity & Inclusion and Employee Wellbeing Director,
PWC
16:45 Blurred lines when the professional becomes personalWith
the rise in social networking leaking into the professional world,
its becoming harder and harder for employees to separate their work
and home lives. In this session well assess how to effectively
manage the impacts of merging the two and visit the option of a
dual persona solution.Fredrik Tukk, Head of Communication,
Marketing & Branding, Maersk Drilling

technology to enable and support the next generation workforce
Segment 4: The European Mobile WorkforceImplementing global

relocations
10:00 Building IT SystemsAs the management of the workforce
demands adaptation and updating, so do the systems they rely on day
to day. This overview will look at the exciting future developments
that will impact on the technology requirements of businesses.
Richard Dallimore, Director IT Risk, Baker Tilly
10:30 Overcoming the Obstacles of BYOD to maximise productivity
and creativity with the needs for adequate securityKicking off with
some interactive voting, this session will take an in depth look at
the challenges and opportunities for BYOD in the business. We will
look at the market pressures for BYOD from the perspectives of the
employer, the employee and the IT department, wrapped around the
importance of security. We will discuss the benefits vs risks and
the areas to consider when implementing a sustainable strategy,
covering technology, support and policies. Finally we will compare
and contrast the different approaches with choose your own
(corporately owned) device and bring your own device.Phil Durbin,

11:45 Integrating cloud based learning solutions This session
will look at companies can link learning systems to corporate
social networks, talent management and objective management. We
will also look at some of the reflective learning research and
development that has been done as part of the EEC funded MIRROR
project.Dave Dunbar, General Manager BT Flexible Working Services,
BT
12:15 The Facilities expectations of the next generationThe next
generation is going to be demanding, and not just of their IT
offerings. They will expect dedicated spaces for collaboration and
brainstorming sessions at the least, having grown up on in the
Google age of offices. How can facilities and HR work together to
create the best work place for all their staff, without driving up
costs? Per S Hansen, Director of Workplace Strategy &
Innovation, CREDIT SUISSE
13:00 Networking Lunch
14:15 Tax issues and structuringCompanies need to choose and
document efficient cross-border employment structures that enable
tax, business, and other compliance needs. The process starts with
asking a variety of questions that should drive the necessary
documentation. Which entity should be treated as the employer
of the assignees and for what purpose? What is the expected
compensation and
benefits cost allocation between related entities during the
assignment period?
What entity will ultimately bear the labour costs and claim the
tax deduction?
14:45 Global Mobility ManagementThe management of global
mobility the movement of personnel and their family members to any
number of countries presents a quite daunting set of opportunities
and risks. Each nation of the globe has developed a body of laws
governing the admission, rights and duties of immigrants and
sojourners. National immigration rules, moreover, do not operate in
isolation, but are created against a backdrop of other national or
regional laws dealing with labour, employment, taxation, privacy,
intellectual-property protection, criminal sanctions, and local
corporate registration requirements, among others. Adding to the
complexity are concerns over cultural differences, immigrant
integration, protection of domestic labour, sovereign instability,
terrorism and organized crime, especially prevalent in the oil
& gas sector. This session will identify specific challenges
and offer suggested strategies for senior HR professionals when
grappling with the legal and practical difficulties that arise in
Global Mobility Management.
15:15 Networking Break
15:45 Relocating Your Workforce In todays difficult employment
market there is a trend for people to relocate to different
countries for work. However, it is vital for employers to be aware
of the challenges prepared to help facilitate the move. While the
global employment market remains in a state of flux its essential
that when people are moving specifically for a work assignment,
they are offered the necessary levels of advice and support to
ensure a smooth transition. This session covers the key areas
employers should offer assistance with when relocating staff and
their families.
16:15 International Data Management While many multinationals
are working to make their human resource management systems operate
at a global level, more and more countries are initiating privacy
legislation that restricts the free transfer of personal infor
mation including employee data across national borders. Worldwide
offshoring of business and IT processes increasingly places
personal data and information in the hands of remote service
providers. Complex global demands for stringent security and
alarming rates of consumer identity theft and cyber-terrorism
contribute to the drive to keep sensitive information private and
secure. Here, we look at the demand for stronger corporate
governance, constant technological innovation, and how management
of employee data privacy and security has taken on new
importance.
