We even had one student with red, white, and blue hair. Students created pencil flags as the classes discussed 9-11. Students enjoyed a story about the Twin Towers, “The Man Who Walked Between The Towers.” It depicted the story of Philippe Petit’s tight-rope walk between Manhattan’s World Trade Center Towers in 1974. Students were able to see pictures of the towers then and now. Students and staff at HJH arrived to school in full Patriot Style Friday, September 10! Students enjoyed the opportunity to wear jeans along with their favorite red, white, and blue shirts while celebrating such a symbolic day. The University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Visual and Theatre Arts will host its first senior art exhibit of the year with Chris Craig, a graphic design emphasis student from Stanton; James Moore, a visual art studio emphasis student from Greenfield; and Josh Wilson, a graphic design emphasis student from Arlington. The exhibition will begin with an opening reception, slated from 5-7 p.m., September 28, on the second floor of the Paul Meek Library. Exhibitions will be located in the library while the Fine Arts Building undergoes renovations. The exhibition will continue through October 14. It will be free and open to the public. Wilson by Monday, October 4, 2010. • Scarecrows must be set-up on the courthouse lawn by Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 5 p.m., and will remain there until after the Hatchie Fall Fest on October 16, 2010. • Judging will begin at 5 p.m., Saturday, October 9. Ribbons indicating place will be attached to winning scarecrows and announcement made immediatey follow- ing judging. • Scarecrows may be removed after Saturday, October 16. But can remain on the courthouse lawn until Saturday, October 23. All must be removed on Sat., Oct. 23. • There are two (2) categories for competition: I. Adults (Industry, Business, Club, Group or Indi- vidual) II. Friday, Sept. 10, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services had a special treat for Ms. Teri Cimmins’s science class.

Wildlife Resource Officer Tara Dowdy, along with her assistant, brought her feathered friends to visit. Among her friends were a Red Tailed Hawk, a Bard Owl, and the most popular of all guests, the tiny Screech Owl. Students were in awe with the unique opportunity to learn more about birds of prey that live close to us in our community. It was truly a neat experience!
