-> Never despair; we commit sins, but there is always a U-Turn back to Allah. -> There are many small sins which we disregard: E.g. Music in the background on YouTube. We look at it as something okay, but these are still sins which accumulate and affect you. Allah deals us with His Forgiveness, Concealment, and Forbearance, before these effects take place.

And from them (the evil effects of sins): Deprivation of Obedience to Allah Of the evil consequences of sins is that they prevent a person from obedience to Allah, without it being replaced (with another act of obedience), and cut off the way to other obediences. So they cut off the way to a third obedience, then a fourth, and so on. Sins cut off a person from many acts of obedience, each of which is better than this world and what is in it. You want to read Quran but you can't, you want to perform good deeds but you can't. This is because of your sins. In Surah Hud [11:112]:

"So stand (ask Allah to make) you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) firm and straight (on the religion of Islamic Monotheism) as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allah) with you, and transgress not (Allah's legal limits). Verily, He is All-Seer of what you do." Who can be steadfast? The one who repents. Sins prevent a person from being steadfast.

This is the example of a man who ate one type of food which caused him to fall into a long sickness, and this sickness deprived him from so many other types of food.

And from them: Sins shorten the life-span of a person and remove Barakah (blessings) from it. You may have time, but you will not do anything with it. And this is due to your sins. Just as goodness increases ones lifespan, evil shortens the life of a person. And the lifespan of a person is the length of his life, and there is no life for a person except in coming closer to his Lord, enjoying His Love and Remembrance, and preferring His Pleasure. Love of Allah in the heart is a pleasure and an enjoyment in itself. You have life when you are working for Allah.

And from them: Sins produce its like and give birth to others until it overpowers the slave from separating and leaving it. As some of the Salaf said, "Of the punishments of sins is another sin, and of the rewards of a good deed is another good deed after it" E.g. If you think bad about someone, it will not end there. You will spy, backbite, slander, - until it might even end up with you killing the person. And good deeds lead to more good deeds. Our lives should always be between :and performing good deeds. In Surah Aal-Imran [3:133] (seeking forgiveness) استغفار

"And march forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for Al-Muttaqun"

And the slave does not stop struggling to perform an act of obedience, loving it and preferring it until Allah sends Angels by His mercy who push him to do it. There is always a struggle at the beginning of obedience. This is the Jihad. You keep struggling until you get used to it and love it.

E.g. In the beginning of acquiring knowledge there was a struggle. You continued struggling until you got familiar with it and loved it; it became a part of your life. You want to do an act of worship, so you push yourself, until you love performing it and it becomes a part of your life. Allah will send Angels to push you to do it, and you feel like you need to do it and will never be able to leave it. And the slave does not stop committing a sin, loving it, and preferring it, until Allah sends Shayateen who push him to commit it. There is also a struggle to commit a sin, but the desire overpowers a person and he commits it. Although it is ugly, the person will then get used to it, and feel like it is normal. Allah will then send the Shayateen to push him to commit it, so he cannot leave it and feels obliged to do it. In Surah Al-Layl [92:5-10]:

"As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him,"

"And believes in Al-Husna."

"We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness)."

"But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient."

"And gives the lie to Al-Husna"

"We will make smooth for him the path for evil;" Do not despair in the Mercy of Allah. It is a blessing from Allah that He teaches us this before it is too late.

And from them:- and this is the most fearful for the slave - is that they weaken the heart from will and determination. The choice and decision is yours, no one can do things or change for you. In Surah Takwir [81:28]:

"To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight,"

Page 7: 8-2-1438 Class 13 8/11/16 - SISTERSNOTES · 2016. 11. 17. · You want to read Quran but you can't, you want to perform good deeds but you can't. This is because of your sins. In

But the sinner is very lazy and weak. He has no strong will nor determination. He wants to start doing things, but he never ends up doing them, because he does not have the motivation. The will to repent after committing a sin and the guilt in the heart is something already built in a person. Sins cause the want to repent to weaken little by little, until it is removed from the heart completely. So when he makes استغفار and repents to Allah, it will not be truthful - it will be with his tongue, while his heart is chained with sins, determined to commit them, etc.... He will have no feelings of repentance and guilt in his heart, it will merely be on his tongue. ...and this is one of the greatest sicknesses and closest to destruction.
