Mr. Raghunandan Tyagi Ms Mehtab Fatima
DGM (HRD) Lecturer
PROJECT SUMMARY
The project involves study of transmitter of Radar and various parts involved in it. The
transmitter of radar is used for army near the border to detect the objects. Its range is 20km to
40km. It basically consists of three units:
1. Transmitter2. LO+AFC unit (Local Oscillator- Automatic Frequency Control unit): It is the control
system of the transmitter.
3. HT unit (High Tension Unit): It is used to supply DC supply to the transmitter.Using all these components the transmitter produces the short duration high-power rf pulses of
energy that are radiated into space by the antenna.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The project mainly includes information on temperature, pressure, flow and level
measurement and control systems. The control and instrumentation system basically consists
of 4 process loops mainly temperature ,level, flow and pressure control. In the Plant main
control is concerned with these process parameters only as these are the major parameters
that are to be judged and controlled inside the plant. So to understand these in detail, different
measuring instrumentation equipments used to control ,monitor and measure these process
loops were studied and their respective working with other specifications was main area of
study. It also gives idea about common errors that come across during the measurements and
various other basic control equipments.

Contactors are a type of switch which has a fixed coil and a moving coil. When AC source is
applied to it , the coil gets magnetised and works as an electromagnet. So both coils gets
attracted and switch gets on. There are various processes involved in the manufacturing of
contactors like Base assembly ,carrier assembly , fix contact assembly, thermal screw assembly
, final testing . There are both AC and DC contactors but Ac contactors are most widely used
and they are available in different sizes depending on the current rating on it.

Optical fibres serve as a medium for carrying information from one point to another in form of light.
Optical fiber cables are non-electrical in nature. A basic fiber optic system consists of an encoder,
transmitter, optical fiber cable, optical regenerators and optical receiver that converts the light signals
back into electrical signals. It uses a photocell or photodiode for detection of light. OFCs work on the
principle of total internal reflection of light. The use of optical fiber cables is widespread. They are
used in communication, in computer networks for fats internet connection, in medicine and in
telecommunication industry both transcontinentally and transoceanically. Growth of fiber optics over
the last five years has been explosive. Analysts expect that this industry will continue to grow at a
tremendous rate well into the next decade and beyond.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The study of the transmitter of the radar and the components involved in it forms the part of
the project. It generates high power microwave signal to be transmitted. This is the
electromagnetic wave that the radar sends out to see if it will be reflected off anything in the
field of the antenna. The high power signals are basically used to target aircrafts, ships,
missiles and even weather phenomena such as rain, snow and clouds can be studied. The peak
powers generated by radar transmitter vary from application to application. It basically
consists of three units : Transmitter, High Tension Unit and LO+AFC unit. With theconfluence of all these components and the sub- components, the short duration high power RF
pulses of energy are generated and radiated into space by antenna.

Project Summary
The Identification of Friend & Foe is basically a radar beacon System employed for the
purpose of general identification of military targets. Radar is of two types namely primary and
secondary radar. Primary radar locates an object by transmitting signal and detecting the
reflected echo. Secondary radar system consist of an interrogater and a transponder.
Interrogater in the ground station interrogates transponder equipped aircrafts, providing a
two way data link on separate transmitting and receiving frequency. The transponder, on
board the aircraft, on receipt of a chain of pulses from the ground interrogator, automatically
transmits a reply. The reply, coded for purposes of Identification is received back at theground interrogator where it is decoded and displayed on a radar type presentation

PROJECT SUMMARY
The transformer is based on two principles: first, that an electric current can produce a
magnetic field (electromagnetism), and, second that a changing magnetic field within a coil of
wire induces a voltage across the ends of the coil (electromagnetic induction). During
manufacturing of transformers leakage flux , effect of frequency and energy losses are taken
into consideration. due to scarcity of electricity we need an efficient transformer. for an
efficient transformer leakage flux and energy loss must be minimum. hence in this project we
will try to study how to make the most efficient transformer

transponder equipped aircraft, providing a two way data link on separate transmitting and receivingfrequencies. The transponder, on board the aircraft, on receipt of a chain of pulses from the ground
interrogator, automatically transmits a reply, coded for the purposes of identification.

PROJECT SUMMARY
Radar is a system that uses radio waves to detect, determine the distance or speed, objects such
as aircraft, ships, and map them. Speed detection is measured by the amount of Doppler Effect
frequency shift of the reflected signal. The basic idea behind radar : a signal is transmitted, it
bounces off an object and some type of receiver later receives it.This is where the name
RADAR comes from (Radio Detection And Ranging). The Radar Transmitter produces the
short duration high- power R-F pulses of energy that are radiated into space by the antenna.A typical Transmitter System uses a Magnetron oscillator which produces X-band pulses with
duration of about 0.35us and R.F. pulse are applied to the antenna.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The project involves designing the microwave links and studying about their implementation in
a mobile cellular network. A microwave link is a communication system that uses a beam of
radio waves in the microwave frequency range to transmit video, audio, or data between two
locations which may be at a distance of a few meters or kilometers apart. These links are
designed on a software transmission design tool called Pathloss 4.0. This tool provides several
link design modules, an area coverage module, a network module which integrates the radio
path and area coverage analysis, different diversity schemes, rain effects, interference analysis,
diffraction and reflection analysis etc. Once designed, these links are then implemented on thefield with the appropriate radio model.

An energy management system (EMS) is a system of computer-aided tools used by operators of
electric utility grids to monitor, control, and optimize the performance of
the generation and/or transmission system. A dual Energy meter is the one by which power
consumption of DG Set and Grid power can be measured separately by using a single meter
and power feeding lines instead of two different meters and two-power lines. Dual Energy
Meter keeps the wiring minimum as single power feeding lines are utilized for DG Set as well
as for Mains(Grid) power supply. These meters can be of two types: Prepaid Billing meters;and postpaid billing meters.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The project involves uplinking the content (HD channels) received from the source (TV
Channels, Movie Production houses etc) then feeds it to the content distributers (DTH, IPTV
operators etc). Before uplinking the content is encrypted to avoid the unauthorised reception
and this is done by using CAS servers. Teleports address the growing demand of the Indian
entertainment and media industry by bridging the Content Generators and the content
distributers (to the users). The CAS servers convert the content in unintelligible form.
Teleports are satellite infrastructure that resides on the terrestrial infrastructure. End to Endconnectivity involves receiving the content, compressing it and then uplinking it. Downlinking
is also done for monitoring purposes.
