From the Pastor
“Fear no one. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.” These words of Jesus in the gospel today were addressed to the Apostles to strengthen them when they meet persecution, rejection, even death. For as he told them as they were to set out on their mission, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves (Mt 10,16). Likewise in Jn 15, 18-20, Jesus said, “If the world hates you, realize that it has hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love it's own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” Rejection, persecution, even martyrdom - this is the lot of a disciple, a prophet, anyone who brings the message of God. This is what Jeremiah experienced (1st reading) but as he himself said, “But the Lord is with me, like a mighty champion.” For as Jesus assured the apostles, as he also assures us, “Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” What great love and care God has for us! The mysteries that we just celebrated these past two Sundays- the Holy Trinity and Corpus Christi (The most precious Body and Blood of Christ) are precisely mysteries of such great love and care. But we only have to trust and believe. A two story house caught fire and a little boy was by the window on the second floor. As the fire was getting bigger, the father of the little boy was down below. He told the little boy to jump and he will catch him but the son said, “I'm afraid, with so much smoke I cannot see you.” But the father said, “But I can, and that's what matters.” Because wherever he jumps, his father who sees him, will be there. Like the son, many times we cannot see because of the smoke. But our Heavenly Father sees us and he is there to catch us. How beautiful that today we celebrate Fathers' Day. The love and care of our Father as mentioned in the gospel today is mirrored in so many of our fathers and for them we are grateful. May we respond with equal love and care, specially for our aged and sick fathers. “Do not be afraid.” May these reassuring words of Jesus, who reveals the Father's love and care, strengthen us in the midst of this pandemic that has caused so much fear and anxiety. Happy Fathers' Day'

REFLECTION
12th Sunday of Ordinary Time: June 21, 2020
That we have the strength and courage to be joyful witnesses of our Catholic faith in all circumstances. “Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.”
Matthew 10:32 Would others know that you are Catholic by the way you act and speak? Do you share your Catholic faith with others? Do you de-
fend your Catholic faith when the situation arises or do you remain silent? Do you pray in public before meals? Pray for the strength and courage to be a joyful witness of our Catholic faith when the
opportunity presents itself. Let us become the radiant light and bold witness that we are called to be!
REFLEXION

12TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Del Pastor
“No teman. “No tengan miedo.”
Padre Roland
