EVENTSCongratulations are in order to attorney Abbie Trone and her husband, Luke Csovelak, who welcomed their first child, a daughter that they named, Logan June Csovelak. “Lo” arrived on December 6, 2017 at 2:13 am weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. She is the best, most exhausting Christmas gift that her parents could have ever hoped for. Welcome, Logan!

Attorney Scott Cooper has been appointed chair of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s workers’ compensation rules committee.

On October 27, 2017, attorney Scott Cooper was a speaker at the 24th annual Auto Law update in Mechanicsburg. In addition to being a course planner, Scott spoke on ethics, particularly ethical issues in social media discovery.

Perry Mason. LA Law. Law and Order. Those are TV shows that influenced people to go to law school. The Shikellamy School District in Northumberland County thought having real lawyers talk to 8th graders was a better source of information. Attorneys Dennis Kergick and Joe Chapman talked to three different sections of Northumberland middle-schoolers detailing a day in the life of an attorney. Thank you to Ms. Phleegor for inviting us!

Scott Cooper and his daughter, Sami, participated in the annual Tree4Hope golf outing. The

event raises funds to support the organization’s mission of building a

bright future of hope for children,elders, and their families in

Guatemala.

Attorney Jessica Mitchell and her family participated in the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s– an event to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. Jessica walks in memory of her grandma, Jean Neff, who passed away with the disease in 2015. Pictured are Jessica’s son, Will, and pup, Riley.

Schmidt Kramer participated in the 2017 US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program to help less fortunate children during the holiday season. The Toys for Tots program collects and distributes toys to nearly 7 million children in need.

In the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Paralegal Jeni Smoker established a fund to take donations to send to animals affected by the storms. Over $600 was raised by Jeni’s efforts. Schmidt Kramer also matched her individual donations to the American Red Cross and the Humane Society.

This is a simple recipe with the opportunity to get creative! Start with a dozen sugar cookies, homemade or store-bought. Use the white cookie icing to create a “melted blob” on each cookie. Decorate the half marshmallows with either icing or jimmies (black for eyes, orange for nose) to create a snowman face. Insert marshmallow onto cookie, using additional white icing to hold in place. Decorate the “blob” with icing or jimmies to give your snowman arms and a shirt. Mini M&Ms work great for buttons! Serve as a delightful wintertime treat!

PETCORNER

Steve is an all-black cat adopted by paralegal Jennifer Lynn on Friday, October 13. As soon as Jennifer sits down, Steve loves to curl up in her lap and take lengthy naps. She is very playful and her greatest foe is a laser pointer. She is very talkative and chirps at Jennifer endlessly. Steve has become fast friends with Jennifer’s 14-year-old dog, Marge.
