1. It is God's Will to Heal You,

Because Healing is in His

Redemptive Plan.

Scripture reveals the nature of @od to us.

Scripture also reveals the attitude of @od toward

sin, sic7ness, and disease.

@odAs nature has not changed through the ages.

%either has /is attitude changed toward sin, sic7ness,

and disease.

ou need to 7now this in order to understand divine

healing. $n fact, there are seven principal facts <oushould 7now about divine healing. 3he first is

in His redemptive plan.

healingC it means spiritual healing. our spirit is healed

@od, however, does not heal the spirit of the sinner.

:ccording to Scripture, /e recreates it and ma7es the

person a new creature.

Jeremiah and EGe7iel, prophes<ing in the 1ld

3estament, said, "Be$old, t$e da*s come, sait$ t$e ord,

3hose who believe that @od heals manAs spirit donot believe that man ever failed 8or sinned9. 3heir

-hen a person gets $ealed, however, old things do

not pass awa< and all things become newC Hust the

becomes new.

1ne of the seven cooperating churches was pastored

going to bring a woman from our church for pra<er one

night, Brother /agin. She is crippled. She has notwal7ed a step in seven <ears. -e have ta7en her to the

best specialists in the state, and the< have said sheAll

never wal7 again Athe longest da< she lives.A

1rdinaril< $ minister under the anointing. 3he night

she came, $ had so man< to minister to that b< the time

$ got to her $ was e2hausted.

ou see, the Dord is the same all the time, but $ am

not. otentiall<, the anointing is there all the time, but

in manifestation, it is not, because when <ou grow

wear<, it is difficult to <ield to @od.

Because the anointing was gone b< the time $ got to

this woman, $ couldnAt conscientiousl< minister to her

as $ normall< would. 3he< had brought her to themeeting from a distance, and what was $ to do Just

@odAs -ord never failsI 3he anointing ma< wane,

disappear and be gone, but the -ord of @od is anointed

She had no evidence of healingFshe had not <et wal7ed

a stepFbut she lifted her hands, loo7ed up, and as a

smile bro7e across her face, she said, 1h, dear ?ather

@odFwhoooI $Am so glad $Am healedI 1h, Dord, <ou7now how tired $ got sitting around these last few

<ears. $Am so glad $Am not helpless and donAt need to be

waited on an<more. 8ou see, she was acting on the

$ stood and told the congregation, DetAs all lift our

hands and praise @od with her, because she is healed.

2. It is God's Will to Heal You

). It is God's will to heal you because sic$ness

comes %rom Satan, not %rom God, and Goddoesn't want His children to have anything

that belongs to Satan.

How God anointed :esus o% 3a;areth withthe Holy Ghost and with power# who went aboutdoing good, and healing all that were oppressedo% the devil( %or God was with him.

$ want <ou to notice that the Scripture said that

ever< one of these sic7 persons Jesus healed was

oppressed of the devil. :nd do <ou notice what the Bible

calls sic7ness Satanic oppression. Jesus is the

6eliverer, but Satan is the oppressor.

$f <ou read the entire stor< in the !5th chapter of

Du7e, <ou will see that this woman evidentl< had a

disease li7e arthritis, because she could not stand

straight. Jesus said that it was Satan who had bound

her ph<sical bod<.

3he thief comes to steal, 7ill, and destro<. Sic7ness

is a thief. $t steals health. $t steals happiness. $t steals

the mone< we need for other things.

small. $t made me mad for the devil to invade our home

and stri7e those children. $ stood against him. $ said to

him, ouAre not going to get in hereI ou have no

rightI

1ur children are grown now. 1ur son, Ken Jr., is an

ordained minister. 1ur daughter, at, also an ordainedminister, is married to a minister, >everend Budd<

/arrison.

$ tell people all the time that all it ever cost us

medicall< spea7ing to raise these children was 5*.#&.

-hen Ken Jr. was born, the doctor charged )#.

3hat was the total cost in those !"5" 6epression da<s.

:nd when at was born, the doctor charged !).#&.83he reason it cost less for at was that we had a

different doctor, and he gave pastors a #& percent

discountI9

8%ow, do not misunderstand me. -hen the time

came for our children to start school, we too7 them in

for ph<sical e2aminations and whatever shots the law

said the< were supposed to have, but the doctor in the

town where we were pastoring then did not charge

ministers an<thing.9

3han7 @od, healing belongs to us. -e need to stand

against the devil.

4. God 3ot 5nl* Provided

Healing in t$e 5ld #estament He

lso Provided Healing in t$e 3e&

#estament.

=. God not only dealt with sic$ness and provided

healing in the !ld )estament under the !ld

4ovenant( He also dealt with sic$ness and

provided healing in the 3ew )estament under

the 3ew 4ovenant.

0ost people who have studied the Bible 7now that

@od dealt with sic7ness in the 1ld 3estament.?urthermore, something about the nature of @od can be

learned from these 1ld 3estament Scriptures.

:s soon as $srael, @odAs covenant people, came out of

Eg<pt and started toward their homeland, @od said to

them

I% thou wilt diligently hear$en to the voice o%

the ord thy God, and wilt do that which isright in his sight, and wilt give ear to hiscommandments, and $eep all his statutes, I willput none o% these diseases upon thee, which Ihave brought upon the Egyptians# %or I +1 )HE!R- )H+) HE+E)H )HEE.

3he /ebrew literall< reads $ will permit none ofthese diseases upon thee, which $ permitted upon the

going to be sic, how are <ou ever going to die6" $t tells

&ill fulfill."

@od had promised /e would ta7e sic7ness from the

midst of them. 3hat means that the< Hust wore out, fell

asleep, and went home, bless @od, without sic7ness.

$t is a remar7able fact that as long as $srael wal7ed

in the covenant @od made with them, there was no

sic7ness among them. 3here is no record of an< babies

or <oung people ever having died as long as $srael 7ept

the covenant. 3here were no premature deaths, because

ever< person grew to his full age before he laid down his

wor7. ou see, :ehovah God was everything theyneededD

%ow, in 6euteronom< the *th chapter, @od said to

$srael

+nd he will love thee, and bless thee, andmultiply thee# he will also bless the %ruit o% thy

3his is tal7ing about how @od will love, bless, and

multipl< /is children. /e sa<s /e also will bless the

fruit of their womb, the fruit of their land, and theincrease of their floc7s. 3hat means /e will prosper

them materiall<. 3he< will be blessed above all people.

ou see, ever<thing connected with the people of

@od is to bear the stamp of prosperit< and success.

Sic7ness and disease are not to be tolerated among

them.

$n our English Bible, salms is one boo7 of !#&

chapters. 3he /ebrew Bible, however, has five boo7s of

salms, corresponding to the first five boo7s of the

Bible. 3hese boo7s of salms were $sraelAs pra<er and

song boo7s. $f <ou read the salms carefull<, the<

continuall< mention that @od is $sraelAs healer.

1ne of the most important e2amples is the !&5rd

"ho %orgiveth all thine iniuities( "H!

HE+E)H + )H8 -ISE+SES. "ho redeemeththy li%e %rom destruction( who crowneth theewith loving$indness and tender mercies( "ho

3he fact that disease came through $sraelAsdisobedience to the law of @od is evident. ?orgiveness

for their disobedience meant the healing of their bodies.

the reason for their disease and sic7ness was that the<

rebelled against the -ord of @od and condemned the

counsel of the 0ost /igh, /e declared

soul abhorreth all manner o% meat( and theydraw near unto the gates o% death. )hen theycry unto the ord in their trouble, and he saveththem out o% their distresses. HE SE3) HIS

3he<Are sic7. 3he< draw near to the gates of death.

3hen the< cr< to the Dord and /e saves them. /e sends

/is -ord and heals them and delivers them.

ou see, t$e* $ad taen t$emselves out of t$e

protection of t$e /ovenant t$at God made &it$ t$em. $t

had been @odAs plan that the< live out their full lifespan

without sic7ness or disease.

-e can read and reHoice over all these verses, andstill some people will sit around in unbelief and sa<,

-ell, <es, but that is all in the 1ld 3estament. 3hat is

Hust for $srael.

than /e was bac7 then /as /e changed $s /e the

same @od $f @od was opposed to /is people being sic7

t$en, /e is opposed to it no&9 because @od never

changes.

>emember, the third most important principle <ou

should 7now about healing is that @od not onl< dealt

with sic7ness and provided healing in the 1ld

3estamentC but /e also dealt with sic7ness and

provided healing in the %ew 3estament.

$ remember something important Jesus said to me

once when /e appeared to me in a vision. /e was

tal7ing to me about this ver< subHect, and /e said,

$srael were not sons of @od.

3he< never had been born again. 3he< Hust had a

promissor< note on redemption. 3he< were servants of@od.

:nd Jesus said to me, $f @od didnAt want /is

servants sic7, <ou 7now /e doesnAt want /is sons sic7.

$n addition, the Bible tells us we have a !etter

covenant established on !etter promises he is the

mediator of a better covenant, &$ic$ &as esta!lis$ed

upon better promises" 8/eb. (+9.

$f divine healing is not provided under this better

covenant, it would not be a better covenant.

Under a covenant not as good as ours, the children

of $srael had the potential of going through life without

sic7ness or disease, of never, %EVE> being sic7, and ofliving the full length of their allotted <ears. Under our

!etter covenant 8the %ew 4ovenant9, do we have to go

through life sic7 and suffering $t doesnAt ma7e sense.

$f one covenant is !etter than another, it includes all

that the other one included and more, too, or itAs not

better. $s a !& bill better than a # bill esI -h<Because it includes all that the # bill is and more.

$t said in the 1ld 3estament that @od sent /is

-ord and healed them. 3he -ord that /e sent was

spo7en through the prophets, but the "ord that He

sent to heal in the 3ew )estament is :esus 4hrist

the Son o% GodD 3his written -ordFthe %ew

3estamentFunveils to us the Diving -ord and tells usthat b< /is stripes we were healed. /e is the healing

-ord.

In the beginning was the "ord, and the "ord was with God, and the "ord was God. )hesame was in the beginning with God. +ll thingswere made by him( and without him was not any

thing made that was made ... )he "ord wasmade %lesh and dwelt among us.

sic7nesses.

received the left foot of fellowship from among the

Baptists. Eventuall<, in June !"5", m< wife and $

accepted the pastorate of a little ?ull @ospel church in

1ne da< a woman in our church and $ got to tal7ingabout the promises of divine healing. 3his sister had a

0ethodist bac7ground. /er husband was a farmer.

She told me some entecostal people had come into

that little town about !"!(, had rented an empt< store

building, and had started a revival.

3he famil< heard about it and decided the< would

attend. 3he< hoo7ed up the wagon, loaded all theirchildren, and went in town to the meeting. 3he<

attended a few times and enHo<ed it. 3he preacher was

preaching on divine healing and pra<ing for the sic7.

eople were pra<ing around the altar, and all of them

pra<ed out loud at onceI

3he one member of their household who could not

attend was this womanAs "5'<ear'old grandmother.3he< got home too late at night for her.

1ne morning at the brea7fast table, @randma as7ed

about the service. -ell, $ 7now <ouAre not going to li7e

this .... the granddaughter said, and began to tell her

about the fellow preaching on healing, anointing people

with oil, and la<ing hands on them for healing.

-h<, she said, & <ears ago in our 0ethodist

church a fellow came along preaching divine healing,

and he invited us to come up and accept 4hrist as our

belonged to them because somebod< told them, ouAve

Spirit are perfect gentlemen. 3he< will not push in on

blood disease for me. $t got rid of the heart condition for

automaticall< an< more than salvation falls on people

-hat is gifts of healings $t is a supernatural

manifestation of healing power through one individual

to another. 3hat is the simplest wa< to state it.

:n<thing we get from @od is a gift. 3herefore,

generall< spea7ing, an< healing would be a gift. But

that is not a manifestation of the gifts of healings.

0anifestations of the gifts of healings are initiated b<

the /ol< Spirit.

:fter $ was baptiGed in the /ol< Spirit, $ still did not

understand the Spirit of @od. :ll $ 7new was that $ was

filled with the /ol< Spirit.

:fter $ received the left foot of fellowship from

among the Baptists, $ aligned m<self with one of the

?ull @ospel groups, and accepted the pastorate of a

small church in %orth 3e2as. 3hat is where $ met and

married m< lovel< wife. She was a 0ethodist, and shehad not been baptiGed in the /ol< Spirit, but she

believed in it.

3he fourth night after we were married, as we were

having famil< pra<er together in her good old 0ethodist

left hand on m< wifeAs head and instantl< she lifted

an hour and a half in other tongues and sang three

3hen, the same voice told me what to do and what to

tell m< mother'in'law for her healing. She was going

into the hospital the ne2t da< to be operated on for a

double goiter. She didnAt have an< faith for healingC <ou

donAt have <our suitcase pac7ed read< to go to thehospital if <ouAre e2pecting to be healed. 3he voice told

me, $ have given <ou gifts of healings and have sent

<ou to minister to the sic7.

-hen $ did what the Spirit of @od had told me,

instantl< the part of the goiter that <ou could see went

She was not healed because she believed @od. $f <ouhad questioned her afterwards, she would have said,

3he manifestation of the gifts of healings does not

healings supernaturally and man's initiating

pool called Bethesda in Jerusalem. ?ive porches had

been built around that pool. 3he< were thronged with

sic7 peopleFthe crippled, halt, maimed, blindFwaiting

for the troubling of the waters.

:n angel came down from heaven at a certain

season and troubled the waters. -hen that happened,the first person in the pool got healed.

ou see, @od initiated something on /is own. /e is

a sovereign being. $f /e wanted to send an angel down

there b< an act of /is divine sovereignt<, trouble the

waters, and heal somebod< that wa<, /e could. /e

didnAt have to write to someone on earth to endorse itI

3he gifts of healings operate in a similar manner.

manifestations of the word of 7nowledge, revelation

gifts, and gifts of healings 83hese special

manifestations often operate together.9 Seeing these

healings, other people start believing @od and the< get

healed, too.

@od for that. $ love that. /e uses me in specialmanifestations in a limited measure, although that is

have realiGed that it was the Dord who awa7ened me.

me, $ have said. 3he /ol< Spirit began to help me, and

finish, $ would have a vision. $ would see m< service the

them.

will.

0< wife and $, as pastors, have visited people who

were on their deathbeds. -e pra<ed for themFwe

believe in thatFand we have seen people healed in

answer to our pra<ers. But sometimes @od will initiatesomething on /is own.

$ am thin7ing of one woman. Just as $ started to

pra<, the voice of the Dord came to me and said, 6onAt

pra<. 3ell her to get up. SheAs healed.

$snAt that a sill< thing to do /ere she is on her

deathbed. $ said, Sister, $ never told an<bod< this

before, but the Dord told me to tell <ou to get upF<ouAre

healedI She got up and was healed.

3hat was on 3hursda<. 1n Sunda< she was Humping

and shouting in our church, giving her testimon< at

both services.

: woman in the church said, Brother /agin, there

is a woman over in our end of town who has been givenup to die and is bedfast. $f <ou healed this woman,

would <ou come over and heal this other woman

the< called for meF$ would go. But @od is a gentleman,

and $ am a gentleman. $ am not going to force m< wa<

in on an<bod<. ou see, this woman who was healedas7ed me to come. /er neighbor had told her how the

Dord used me sometimes and said if $ would come, she

would be healed. :nd she was. @od initiated something

on /is own.

Jesus did not sa< to go into all the world and prove

to people that divine healing is so. /e said, @o preac$

the -ord.

1nce when $ was preaching in 17lahoma, some

people put an advertisement in the newspaper offering

a !,&&& reward for proof that an<bod< was getting

healed in m< services.

3hese people also wrote me letters challenging me to

debate, and the< went on the radio and made a lot ofoutlandish statements about divine healing.

$ Hust ignored them. $ donAt pa< an< attention to a

don7e<As bra<ing. 8$ had heard them bra< before. $t was

nothing new to me.9

1ne night as $ stepped on the platform, $ saw five

well'dressed men standing in the bac7. 3he voice of the

Dord said to me, 3hose five men are so'called ministersfrom such'and'such a church. 3he< are the ones

challenging <ou. %ow $ want <ou to ta7e such'and'such

a te2t and preach a sermon. $ opened m< Bible and

3he pastor said afterwards, $ thought <ou were

ou see, there was a man l<ing there on a stretcher.

3here also were two <oung ladies in the service thatnight who were Hust about to be graduated from high

school with honors. 3he< had been saved a few nights

before.

3he -ord of the Dord came unto me, sa<ing, Sa<

thou unto this congregation, son of man A$ am going to

la< m< hands on these two <oung ladies, and each one

will receive the /ol< Spirit and begin to spea7 withother tongues. 3hen $ am going to wal7 down there and

not touch that man or pra< for him. $ am going to spea7

to him and tell him to rise, and he will rise up off that

stretcher and be healed. /e will wal7 across the front of

this church, and ever< person in this church will see

him instantl< healed before his e<es. :nd if an< of these

things do not happen, then $ am a false prophet.A

sometimes does some things for signs. /e initiates them

not stammer. She did not stutter. She spo7e a language.

She is Hust standing here calml< spea7ing with tongues.

$ laid hands on the other girl and said, Be filled

with the /ol< Spirit. She calml< started spea7ing in

spo7e to him, and he got up and wal7ed right there in

-hen she heard of Jesus, she got in the crowd

D. Healing Is 3ot l&a*s Instant.

A. Healing is not always instant. Sometimes it is

gradual.

Someone once said to me, Brother /agin, in Bible

da<s, people alwa<s got healed instantl<.

$ replied, -hat about the !& lepers 3he Bible sa<s

: woman wrote me, $ came in <our pra<er line !&months ago. -hen <ou laid hands on me, $ fell under

the power, but $ didnAt feel an< different. $ had had a

stro7e that left me with no feeling in m< left arm and

leg, and $ had to get around with the help of a crutch.

$ guess people didnAt thin7 $ got healed, because $

still was on that crutch when $ left the meeting. -hen $

got about two bloc7s from the church, suddenl< a warmglow came through m< leg and feeling was restored to

m< arm and leg. %ow both are all right.

%ot onl< that, she continued, but $ had smo7ed

cigarettes for & <ears. $ 7new it was wrong, and $

wanted to quit, but $ couldnAt. ou 7now, $ havenAt

smo7ed another cigarette since <ou pra<ed for me. $

:nother e2ample is a woman who wrote me several

arthritis victim, she, too, wal7ed with the aid of a

crutch, and she did not get her healing instantl< afterpra<er.

She said, $ got bac7 on m< crutch, went bac7 to the

boo7 table, then went to m< car, laid the boo7s up on

top of it, and was fumbling in m< purse for m< 7e<s

when suddenl< $ realiGed I'm $ealed. 3he

manifestation came when $ was standing beside the car.

3wo months have come and gone and $ have not had touse m< crutch an< more. $Am healed, and $ want to

3he !& lepers were healed as the< went. 3he Bible

also sa<s that under the ministr< of Jesus, the

noblemanAs son began to amend from the hour Jesus

pra<ed for him 8John 9. -hat does that mean $t

means that he began to get better from the hour he wasministered to until he was healed.

are a curse, because some people get healed, go awa<,

and forget @od. /e believed that people who are

graduall< healed can see that the< get better and better

as the< wal7 in @od, and that 7nowledge becomes of

invaluable wealth to them.

heals, /e heals through the spirit. @od is not a mind.

@od is not a man. @od is a pirit.

t$e pirit of God. :nd because divine healing is

spiritual, it can be lost. 0an< people have lost theirhealing b< opening the door to the devil.

$t is a remar7able fact that when Jesus came on the

scene as a healer, /e demanded faithFand faith is born

are healed forever.

<our fortune. $ 7new <ou had to open the door for the

devil to come bac7 in.

did, he said.

him, taught him, and laid hands on him in the middle of

$ started practicing this life of faith more than &

<ears ago as a Baptist bo< preacher. $f fear came, $

Jesus. $ refuse to fear. $ learned that if $ would stand

m< ground, it alwa<s would leave. Sometimes $ wouldhave to stand there and resist it for a da< or two, but

eventuall< it would go. ?ear has been gone for so man<

3hen, if doubt came in, $ spo7e to it, too. $ said,

6oubt, $ resist <ou. $ refuse to doubt.

3hen, if sic7ness came, $ spo7e to it. $ said,

Sic7ness, $ resist <ou. 83hatAs resisting the devil, as

we proved, for sicness is of t$e devil. /e is the author

of it, and to resist sic7ness is to resist the devil.9

$ also have successfull< resisted the flu all these

Some people get all built up in faith in a service and

then go bac7 among a bunch of unbelief, get down and

out, and sa<, 3hat will wor7 for Brother /agin becauseheAs a preacher and @od has given him the gift of faith,

problems in the church, but $ had alread< told the Dord,

son had been healed of an incurable disease at a ?ull

or7 4it< ever< few months. ?riends invited the famil<

to the ?ull @ospel sessions. 3he< heard me teach onma7ing a confession of faith. 3he parents wondered if it

would wor7.
