The Leader and His Family

1 Timothy 3:8-13 “Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of

respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.”

The Leader’s Home “Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his

heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.” (1 Tim. 3:1-7)

Requirements that should be evident in the life of any leader:• Above reproach: blameless• Husband of one Wife: consistent/dependable marriage.• Temperate: knows how to keep things in balance

(marriage, parent, leader, disciple, businessmen or an employee.)

• Self-controlled: knows when to speak and when not to and has the ability to overcome all difficulties.

• Respectable: highly regarded, creates an atmosphere of excellence.

• Able to teach: good disciple, good teacher, loves what he does.

• Not addicted to wine: knows how to control desires, practices self control.

• Quarrelsome: doesn’t impose doctrine by force, lets the Holy Spirit do the work.

• Not greedy for money: not seduced by the shimmer of gold, knows how to wait on God.

• Kind: has the gift of serving & makes an effort for others to feel important.

• Gentle: stays calm, never temperamental.• Not covetous: loves God with his entire mind, soul &

strength; there is no room for the god of money.• Manages household well: applies biblical principles in

his family, & involves them in ministry.• Not a recent convert: doesn’t get ahead of the training

process. Knows how to work under the direction of his leader.

• Must have a good reputation: actions speak louder than words.

Allow Jesus To Build Your Home“Unless the Lord builds the house, it’s builder labor in

vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain”.

(Psalm 127:1)• Family crisis arise the following things are

forgotten:– Not educating the kids.– Not honoring our spouses.– Living with resentment & fighting against having

to forgive.– Selfishness, pride and vanity all affect our

families in a negative way.– They have taken God out of their families and

want to raise a family in their own strength.

Canceling Out ArgumentsMany of the conflicts experienced in the families

are rooted in their parents’ homes:• Sins inherited from the parents. (Lam. 5:7)• Because of idolatry. (Deut. 27:15)• Because of words spoken. (Mark 11:23b)• For taking the blame of another. (Gen. 27:13)• Because of negative talk. (Gen. 27:46)• Because of words spoken by your spouse.These arguments are against us are in the spiritual

realm, they give the enemy legal ground to come against us.

All these arguments were canceled at the cross of Calvary.

You can have full deliverance from these arguments.• Identify the arguments against you

• Repent and ask for forgiveness from God for them.

• Renounce the curse and by faith visualize the curse as removed from your life and your families life.

• Ask God for the opposite of the curse.

Grace that Restores (Is. 61:4)One of the most important aspects of Jesus’

ministry was the ministry of restoration.• Brought restoration to the wedding ceremonies.• Restored heath to those who were sick.• Restored the vision of those who had none.• Restored mental health.• Restored the dignity of those cast out by society.• Brought light to those in darkness.• Brought life where there was death.• Taught the language of love.• Opened the door of hope for those drowning in

confusion.

Jesus Commissioned Us To Continue What He Began.

“…to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from

the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an

inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.'
