7TH Low BrassInternational AcademyAnd Festival /// 2017
IntroductionThe city of Alcobaça emerges once again as the perfect place to welcome some of the most important musical ambassadors of the low brass international panorama. The musical tradition of this county has developed exponentially as a result of the emergence of some names that have marked the music scene in our country and soon went beyond borders, contaminating many other parts of the globe with the passionate, determined and innovative spirit of the artists of this region.
Some of these artists emerged from the rearmost part of the stage show, which are strategically positioned as a result of the unavoidable dimension of their serious and powerful voices. This tumultuous sound that erupts from the depths and shakes the most unwary to soon and immediately transport their spirit into the most heavenly harmonies, is at the genesis of the quest that has always united the artistic directors.
Sérgio Carolino (Principal Tuba of Casa da Música Porto Symphony Orchestra, International Yamaha Artist, Professor at the Superior School of Music, Arts and Entertainment of Porto Polytechnic Institute) and Hugo Assunção (First Trombone of Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Professor of Trombone at the Évora University and Lisbon Superior School of Music) are once again the hosts on the lands of Cistercian, welcoming at this event musicians from various origins and backgrounds.
