Good views for much of the route, with several ascents and descents and no stiles. There is an option to shorten the walk by approximately two miles. Tuesday 19 th November Collingham circular - the Roman Trail. Approx 5 miles with option for shorter walk of 2.25 miles. Walk follows in the tracks of the Romans along a secluded green lane and takes in fine views across the Trent Valley. Mostly level with slight gradients across farm land using field paths bridle ways and minor roads. We meet at 9.30am at Orston Village Hall Car Park for car sharing. Orston Village Choir Sings for Remembrance We were all so very proud to be invited to sing at the Service of Remembrance for the 156 Parachute Baalion to commemorate the 75 th Anniversary of the Bale of Arnhem on Saturday October 12 th . The locaon was the very beauful St Mary’s Church at Melton Mowbray. The service was led by Chaplain Brian McAvery MRI. The service was both emoonal and poignant and we all sang from the heart. The songs were chosen by Astrid, Cliff and Ian - a selecon from the most popular songs from the War years, when music served as a defiant hope for liberaon and freedom. A really enjoyable, entertaining experience, which brought lots of laughs and more than a lile nostalgia to Orston that night. Many thanks go to both the actors and the Village Hall commiee for their hard work, and to the audience for enthusiascally joining in, all of which made it a very memorable event. Orston Christmas Pageant 2019 6.15pm Christmas Eve, Orston Village Hall The first Orston Pageant was on Christmas Eve 1965, and is now into its 6th decade. Over that me it has aracted thousands of visitors to the village who parcipate in our celebraons and join in the carol service that follows. Everyone is invited to partake as cast members, choristers and audience, and whatever the weather, the show goes on. If you want an excuse to dress up then please join in.
