    Day 1st

    Thessaloniki

Arrival at Thessaloniki airport (Macedonia Airport) with International flights. Our

guide will meet and greet you upon exiting the customs area, and will lead you to

your coach. We will set off for a tour on the outskirts of Thessaloniki Area. Our first

    stop will be Ancient Pella.

Ancient Pella is a Greek city located in the current Pella regional unit of Central

Macedonia in Greece, and was the Capital of the Ancient Kingdom of Macedonia. On

the site of the Ancient City of Pella is the Archeological Museum of Pella. A common

folk etymology is traditionally given for the name Pella, ascribing it to a form akin to

the Doric Apella, originally meaning a ceremonial location where decisions were

made. Another suggestion is that Pella originally meant defensible citadel on a

cliff, a version which is reinforced by the numerous ancient cities throughout Greece

with similar names. The word Polis most probably derives from the ancient meaning.

After concluding the tour to Ancient Pella, we will continue with a visit to the Jewish

Museum of Thessaloniki that presents the history of Sephardic Jews and Jewish life in

    Thessaloniki.

It is also known as Museum of Jewish Presence in Thessaloniki, or Jewish History

Museum. The museum is being run by the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki. It wasbuilt in 1904 by the Italian architect Vitaliano Pozeli. The restoration of the building

lasted from 1998 to 2003 and was funded by the Organization for the Cultural

    Capital of Europe Thessaloniki 1997.

The exhibition of the Museum was based on the collection of documents, ritual

objects and photographic material reminiscent of the era, as well as a library that

used to be housed in another location. This library was known as The Center of the

Course of Jewish history in Thessaloniki or Center for the Jewish Studies of

Thessaloniki or Jewish History Center of Thessaloniki.

After visiting the Jewish Museum we will take you on a small City Tour of

Thessaloniki, where you will admire the White Tower.

The present tower replaced an old Byzantine fortification which was mentioned

    around the 12th

Century and reconstructed by the Ottomans to fortify the Citys

harbour. It later became a notorious prison and scene of mass executions during the

period of Ottoman rule. We will also bring you to admire the Kamara (Arch) and therest landmarks of the City.

Our tour will end in the afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel to check in and overnight.

Day 3rd Kalambaka Thermopylae Kamena Vourla - Delphi

After an early breakfast, we will depart from Kalambaka and drive further south,

    towards Thermopylae.

Thermopylae is primarily known for the battle that took place there in 480 BC, in

which an outnumbered Greek force of probably seven thousand (including the

famous 300Spartans)held off a hugePersianforce (estimated in the range 70,000

300,000) underXerxes.Probably one thousand Greeks remained in the pass when

most of the army retreated. For three days they held out between two narrow cliff

faces to prevent the use of Xerxes' vast cavalry and infantry force, before being

outflanked on the third day via a hidden goat path named theAnopaea Pass.According to the Greek legend, a traitor namedEphialtes of Trachis showed the path

to the invaders. The following epitaph bySimonides was written on the monument:

Go tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, that here obedient to their laws we lie."

We will then proceed to Kamena Vourla, a bath City well known for its Thermal

Springs. The famous springs became important around 1926 when the chemist

Michail Pertesis discovered the exceptionally high radon concentration in the water,

which was thought of as of great value for peoples health. Nearly ten years later, the

first hotels started to develop in the area and after World War 2, Kamena Vourla was

transformed into a considerable tourist attraction. You will have the opportunity to

have a bath in the hot springs.

We will then direct towards Delphi, where we will spend the night.

    Day 4th

    Delphi Nafpaktos Kalavrita - Olympia

Delphi is both anarchaeological site and a modern town inGreece on the south-

western spur ofMount Parnassus,in the valley ofPhocis. The site of Delphi was

believed to be determined by Zeus when he sought to find the centre of Grandmother

Earth (orGaia). He sent two eagles flying from the eastern and western extremities,

and the path of the eagles crossed over Delphi where theOmphalos,or navel of Gaia

was found. Delphi was the site of theDelphic Oracle, the most importantoracle in the

classical Greek world, and became a major site for the worship of the godApollo

after he slewPython,a dragon who lived there and protected thenavel of theEarth.

Python (derived from the verb pythein, "torot") is claimed by some to be the original

name of the site in recognition of Python which Apollo defeated. TheHomeric Hymn

to Delphic Apollo recalled that the ancient name of this site had been Krisa.

We will visit the Apollo Temple and the Museum with masterpieces such as the Charioteer.

With the exception of a30-year interlude of Venetian control, the town remained

under Turkish rule until the outbreak of theGreek War of Independence in 1821, in

The Theater which is still hosting dramatic performances nowadays - delighted

Pausanias for its symmetry and beauty. It was designed by Plykleitos the Younger in

    the 4th

century BC. The original 34 rows were extended in Roman times by another 21

rows. As is usual for Greek Theaters (and as opposed to Roman ones), the view on a

lush landscape behind the scene is an integral part of the Theater itself and is not to

be obscured. It seats up to 15.000 people. The Theater is marvelled for its exceptional

acoustics, which permit almost perfect intelligibility of unamplified spoken word from

the proscenium of scene to all 15.000 spectators, regardless of their seating.

After having the chance to admire the Ancient Theater, we will drive on to the city ofNauplion,a lovely Greek town with intervals of prosperity in ancient, medieval, andmodern times. Nafplion was the first capital of modern Greece. The quaint harbor

town, with its 20,000 inhabitants, is built on the north side of a rocky peninsula

jutting into the gulf of Argos, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns

all over Greece. We will spend the night either in Nauplion, or in the adjacent fishing

    village of Tolo.

    Day 6th

Nauplion Mycenae - Corinth Canal Athens Ancient Athens

After breakfast we will travel for our next visit that will take you to the Acropolis ofMycenae with its Cyclopean walls and the Lions Gate, the Treasury of Atreus and the

one of the major centers of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated

much of southern Greece. The period of Greek history from about 1600 BC to about

We proceed towards Athens with a short stop at the Canal that connects the
